A Historical Perspective on NATO, Russia, and Western Interventionism
Europe in general—and the UK in particular—continue to suffer from a deep-rooted Russo- phobia. To this day, no solid evidence has been provided by President Biden or any Western leader to support claims of Russian interference in European affairs or in Donald Trump’s first presidential election.
Historically, Kyiv was the capital of ancient Russia. Crimea, meanwhile, was handed over to Ukraine by Nikita Khrushchev due to his Ukrainian heritage. Even Mikhail Gorbachev had Ukrainian roots as he had some assignments during Khrushchev. Following the collapse of the USSR in 1991, the U.S.-led NATO alliance began to unilaterally expand, bully, invade, and orchestrate CIA-backed coups and regime changes around the world. According to a report by a group of professors led by Stephanie Stewall at the Brown University, the U.S. has engaged in regime changes in 89 countries since then.
In the early post-Soviet years, Russia was governed by Boris Yeltsin—a weak and ineffectual leader, often ridiculed for his drunken behavior. Under his leadership, the country fell into disarray. Key public sector enterprises were sold off for peanuts, often to oligarchs with close ties to the West. Many of these individuals, particularly of Jewish background, took their money and moved to Germany, Finland, the U.S., and possibly even to France.
When Michael Gorbachev agreed to German unification, it was on the condition that NATO would not expand eastward. Later, Western leaders backed away from this commitment, claiming there was no formal written agreement.
Fast forward to 2008: at the NATO summit in Bucharest, the alliance declared that both Ukraine and Georgia would one day become members—yet provided no roadmap. Despite repeated warnings from President Putin, NATO kept pushing eastward. Five countries joined first, followed by seven more that encircled Russia. The only remaining access point for Russia to the rest of Europe was through Ukraine—a border stretching over 2,000 kilometers.
In 2014, NATO’s involvement in Ukraine escalated after the Maidan coup, widely viewed as U.S.-supported. This further inflamed tensions. Then came, the Minsk Agreements, signed by France’s President Macron and Germany’s Chancellor Merkel, which were supposed to de-escalate the situation. However, in 2022, both leaders admitted their real aim was to buy time to arm Ukraine and prepare for conflict—a clear act of bad faith.
In April 2022, during peace talks in Istanbul, an agreement was nearly reached to end the conflict. However, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson flew to Kyiv on the orders of Washington to persuade President Zelensky not to sign the deal—prolonging the war unnecessarily.
Putin’s requests to address Russia’s security concerns were consistently ignored by the West. Left with no diplomatic path, he was forced to act to secure Russia's sovereignty—no longer the weak state it was in the 1990s.
NATO’s track record speaks volumes: from the bombing and dismantling of Yugoslavia with the support of far-right groups, to the 1990 invasion of Iraq, the 2001 war in Afghanistan, and the 2003 re-invasion of Iraq that led to the deaths of over half a million civilians. The West also backed extremist groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria, and orchestrated the brutal killing of Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi.
This cycle of regime change and destruction was not going to be allowed to continue—at least not without resistance. Of course, the West may have the last word in the media, but perhaps some of us will have the last laugh when history writes its final verdict.

To Honor or to Insult Professor Mahalonobis?

To Pay tribute to Professor Mahalanobis, founder of ISI in India in the 1950s, International Statistics Day is celebrated every year led by Academicians and Statisticians around the world. However, I never came across a year going to be marked by the BJP caucus. This is the first time, academic politician, Arvind Panagaria will be presiding over the event. He has nothing to do with the statistics except manipulating the data to insult the statistics every day to glamourize the Modi Govt.
In fact, among the BP caucus Prof. Rajeeva Laxman Karandikar, Chairman, of the National Statistical Commission (NSC), and Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, MoSPI, not a single statistician of national repute let alone being of International repute is invited. One of my Prof Mahalnobi's former young colleagues, Prof CR Rao, who passed away last year in August at the golden age of 102 set up a CR Rao Institute of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science, no one from the Institute is part of the event.

Mexico elected its first woman president
Claudia Sheinbaum, a leftist climate scientist and former mayor of Mexico City, will be Mexico’s next president after winning the election by a landslide. She will be the first woman, and the first Jew, to hold the position.
Sheinbaum campaigned on a vow to continue the legacy of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Mexico’s current president and her mentor. The election was seen as a mark of confidence in his tenure, during which millions of Mexicans were lifted out of poverty, although he failed to control rampant cartel violence and often undercut democratic institutions.

As predicted by this author the fall of Bakhmut before Sunday the 21st May it fell before midnight of 19th May 2023! Shocked the G7 & its invitees India and Brazil. In desperation NATO onsidering giving F16 to Ukraine as a last ditch attempt to test Russian Defences. No doubts they will meet the same fate as American Pattriits did in the hands of Kinzhal missiles!

Of course, multipolarity merits! At the eve of collapse of USSR, American President George Bush Sr in Tokyo said, "I rejoiced collapse of USSR". It gave green chit to US to go anywhere it liked to bulldoze and engaged in regime changes with or without the UN resokution. Russian drunkard Presudent, Yelsin made Russia so weak that it even had no courage make even mildest criticism when NATO bombarded Yugoskvia and splited it into many parts by colluding with the neo-natzies collabirators against Serbs who fought against Hi**er. First, America invaded Iraq in Jan 1990, then in late 2011 invaded Afghanistan although Osama Binladen and most of Al-Qaeda's leaders were from Saudi Arabia. Then George Bush Jr invaded Iraq in 2003 without the UN resolution and in spite of the opposition by France, China Russia. No weapons of mass destruction were found anywhere in Iraq yet Sadam was hanged after the Kangaroo Court's verdict managed by American puppet govt. As soon as Iden took over as President of the US, he decided to abandond Afghanistan leaving people in miserable conditions, but leaving huge number of weapons for Taliban/Al-Qaeda led Govt.
Further, with the end of cold War, third World countries were not only abandoned since America being the only superpower didn't have to compete with USSR for sphere of influence I'm the world.
America unilaterally started covert operation in 89 countries to destabilise them. I can go on....therefore in a multipolar world there will be a scope for bringing most of the conflicts to an end, helping developing countries as China has been doing and the scope of left moment will be widened which collapsed in Eastern Europe and other countries giving the false impression that the free market economic system understeer globalisation was the only way out. Thanks to 2008 worldwide financial crisis the free market delusion was shattered.
Howver, leftists in India and also in some Western countries are accusing Russian legitimate and justifiable operation to brand Russia as an imperialist country although there is no economic basis to suggest that. From the recent speeches of the US and NATO leaders in UN accusing Russia action in Ujraine is being imperialist it appears some of these leftist are talking in their language.

In fact, there is no capital movement from developing countries to either Russia or China. A leftists view that Russian operation against the genocide of 14000 people in Donbas and to protect Russian speaking ethnic minority is an impetist war combined with Nehruvian scheudo secularism indicate that they are on the course of self-emolition.
