Some founders seem to get lucky more often than others.

Ed Leon Klinger thinks there’s a reason for that.

In our latest episode of Enough, he talks about the “luck surface area” – the habit of creating more opportunities for useful introductions, investors, hires and ideas to find you.

Speak at the conference, go on that podcast, send that message, follow up with the person who can help.

The lucky break often comes after you’ve put yourself in its path.

Watch and listen to Ed Leon Klinger on Enough wherever you get your podcasts.

Every memorable event has one line that gets the room laughing.

Ours came courtesy of Vivien de Tusch-Lec.

When asked how she thinks about her emergency fund, she didn’t answer with “three months’ expenses” or “six months’ salary”. She answered: “A year of lawyers.”

It was funny, unexpected and, in its own way, completely sensible. An emergency fund isn’t a formula – it’s there to help you sleep at night and what that looks like will differ from one person to the next.

Vivien, thank you for reminding us that some of the best conversations about money happen when people are honest enough to share how they really think about it.

Ed Leon Klinger doesn’t wrap his view in comfort: “AI will take people’s jobs. And people using AI will take people’s jobs.”

In the latest episode of Enough, he argues that the next wave of AI disruption is much closer than many people want to admit. Two years, in his view, not ten.

His advice to the Flock team is the same advice he would give more broadly: use the tools, understand them, bring them into your work and help the people around you do the same.

Waiting this one out may be the riskiest option.

Aldi’s middle aisle is a thing of wonder.

It’s also a surprisingly useful way to think about investing – as Hattie Moll would have it.

Before you start hunting for riskier opportunities – such as private markets, crypto or the latest investment trend – it helps to make sure you’ve done the financial equivalent of buying the fruit and vegetables.

A solid foundation comes first in the shape of emergency savings, long-term investing and a portfolio that reflects your goals.

Only then may it make sense to venture into the middle aisle.

That idea sparked plenty of discussion at our most recent women’s event at Old Sessions House in London.

As our CMO Hattie Moll put it, good investing is rarely about chasing the next big thing. More often, it comes down to building confidence, understanding risk and making sensible decisions over time.

Investing involves risk and reward. Private market investments are high risk and only available to high net worth and professional investors. You could lose all the money you invest.

You know you’ve walked in on the best day of the year when someone tells you your ice cream is free.

We were thrilled to collab with our friends at to bring a little Prosper generosity to Primrose Hill – free scoops for families, dogs, locals, passers-by and anyone lucky enough to wander in hungry and hot.

It was joyful, busy and deliciously sticky. And beneath the sprinkles, there was a serious point.

The wealth industry has not always been famous for giving more back. Too often, fees and charges take their scoop every year.

Meanwhile, Prosper is here to bring generosity and clarity to a category where both feel rare. We charge zero Prosper platform fees on ISAs, pensions and GIAs because we believe investing should help you build long-term wealth, rather than have it melt away.

Free ice cream for the community and free investing for the part that lasts longer than an afternoon.

Investing involves risk and reward. The value of investments may rise or fall. Uninvested cash doesn’t earn interest.

One of the moments that resonated most at our recent women’s event came from Prosper CFO Clare Freeman.

“Someone is making money from your money.”

In other words: holding cash can feel like the safest option, but if it’s sitting in an account earning very little interest, chances are someone else is putting it to work for themselves instead.

Clare’s point sparked a much needed conversation about balancing the comfort of cash with the long-term opportunity to invest.

You get all types of reactions when you tell someone their ice cream is free.

We teamed up with Reenie’s Ice Cream Bar in Primrose Hill to surprise families with free scoops and make the June heatwave a little more bearable.

We did it because we think generosity should show up in places you can actually feel, like an ice cream shop on a hot day or an investment platform that gives more back to its members.

That’s the same idea behind Prosper: more of your money should stay yours. It’s why we charge zero platform, transfer and exit fees on our investment accounts – Stocks & Shares ISA, Personal Pension (SIPP) and General Investment Account (GIA).

We know fees can significantly melt away more of your future than you think over the long term. While ice cream may not last forever, keeping more of your money working towards the life you want is the real scoop.

Markets reward patience more often than precision.

But as Prosper CMO Hattie Moll explained at our first women’s event last month, investing still carries an emotional burden – particularly for women, who are more likely to question their own judgement after a setback than treat it as an inevitable part of the process.

Investing shouldn’t feel like an exam in which every decision is marked right or wrong. Confidence grows through experience, good conversations and the freedom to ask questions without embarrassment.

The evening with our female community was about exactly that: honest discussion about money, investing and the realities that shape women’s financial lives.

Our female community braved the London heatwave this week for ‘Money matters: A female perspective’ and turned it into one of the most candid, open conversations we’ve hosted at Prosper.

Together with the women in the room, guest speaker Vivien de Tusch-Lec (Healthtech VC, RYSE), our CFO Clare Freeman and CMO Hattie Moll moved between the emotional and the rational sides of money – the practicalities of prenups, the financial fallout of divorce, the courage it takes to place your money at the right risk level, building confidence through your investment journey, passing wealth to the next generation and minding the compounding drag of fees.

Thank you so much to everyone who made the event possible and shared their very real stories and questions.

We’re already planning our next women’s event – exclusive to our members. Download the Prosper app and open your account today to join us via the link in bio.
