Some bottles carry a sense of occasion long before they’re opened. Krug 1996 is one of those wines, with a vintage that continues to hold a special place among Champagne lovers.

Born from a year of extraordinary contrasts in Champagne, the 1996 vintage is known for its freshness, balance and remarkable character. Krug 1996 is a blend of 48% Pinot Noir, 31% Chardonnay and 21% Meunier, capturing the distinctive expression of the vintage.

In the glass, its radiant golden colour leads into mature aromas, followed by layers of fresh pear, candied lemon, ripe summer fruit, honey, gingerbread and delicate mocha. The palate is firm and expressive, balancing richness with freshness.

It is also a particularly significant vintage for the House of Krug. 1996 was the last Krug Vintage crafted by three generations of the Krug family working together.

A Champagne with intensity, precision and remarkable longevity, Krug 1996 is a reminder of just how compelling a great vintage can become with time.

We’re pouring a glass of Estate Argyros Aidani 2019 from Santorini.

Made from 100% Aidani, one of Santorini’s rare indigenous varieties, this dry white shows elegant aromas of tropical fruit, scented herbs and flowers, with a silky texture, balanced acidity and a refreshing finish.

At Cru Wine, we’re drawn to wines that offer more than what’s in the glass. Discovering distinctive varieties and distinctive regions is part of what makes wine collecting so rewarding.

Some wines are about elegance. Others are about the experience.

The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru Les Amoureuses from Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils brings together the finesse, depth and precision that make Burgundy so captivating.

From one of Chambolle-Musigny’s most celebrated Premier Crus, this is a wine with remarkable character and a sense of place that continues to reveal itself with every sip.

Some wines don’t need an introduction. They simply speak for themselves.

This 2008 Meursault-Charmes 1er Cru from Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a beautiful example of what time can bring to Burgundy.

Elegant, layered and beautifully complex, with notes of citrus, white flowers and subtle minerality, followed by a long, lingering finish.

A reminder that great wine is not simply about the vintage. It is about patience, provenance and the moments we create around the bottle.

One of those Bordeaux that never needs to shout to make an impression: Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2003.

A Second Growth from Pauillac, this Left Bank classic is built on Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot playing an important supporting role. The warm 2003 vintage has produced a wine known for its generous fruit, layered texture, and mature complexity, while still carrying the structure and elegance that define great Pauillac.

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has long been one of Bordeaux’s most respected estates, celebrated for crafting wines that combine power with remarkable finesse.

If you ever have the opportunity to enjoy a well-cellared bottle, it’s a memorable reminder of why Pauillac remains one of the world’s benchmark wine regions.

Some wines ask for patience. Château Latour rewards it.

There are few names in Bordeaux that command the same level of respect as Château Latour. Released only when the estate believes the wine is ready, every vintage reflects an uncompromising commitment to quality over convention.

The 2019 Grand Vin de Château Latour is no exception. Powerful yet remarkably precise, it combines Pauillac’s unmistakable structure with extraordinary purity and finesse, promising decades of evolution in the cellar.

Some bottles are enjoyed.
Others become benchmarks.

This is one of them.
