We're still elated from Thursday night's win at the City of London Wealth Management Awards (COLWMA), at a packed-out Guildhall.

It was amazing to be part of such illustrious company, and be honoured alongside some of the biggest and best in the industry.

Our Co-founders Nataša Williams and Jordan Buck were there to collect the Clearstream Award for Best Newcomer, which seemed fitting in the 600-year-old hall in which we were gathered.

Thanks to everyone who voted, and to Goodacre UK for an exceptional night.

One of Cadro’s founding principles is that we love content.

Cadro clients get regular content updates, tailored to their portfolios – from performance updates to market insights and round-ups from our monthly Investment Committee meetings.

What’s more, content creation is a huge team effort at Cadro, and gives our clients access to professionals right across our team, from our Co-founders, to operations, investment, client advisers and even occasionally the content team itself.

That’s exactly the case with this latest peak behind the curtain, where Video and Content Producer Mai Tejapaibul lifts the lid on what goes into our monthly performance updates, from scripting, to shooting and compliance checking each and every update that comes into your Cadro content stream – so you can be assured you stay up-to-date with all the latest news about your wealth in a way that’s engaging, clear and fair.

Passive vs Active Investments: What is the difference, and why should you care?

It is essential to understand how the two types of investments work to construct a portfolio that fits your goals, time horizon, and risk tolerance.

While the difference does not apply to all funds, here’s our Client Adviser Kathleen Tatham’s general overview of the two:

· Passive investing is about matching the market and can be simpler and less expensive.
· Active is all about trying to beat the market, where fund managers typically pick and adjust stocks within the fund to make strategic changes. It can offer higher potential returns but usually comes with higher fees and risk.
· While neither strategy guarantees a return on investment, both can have an important place within a properly diversified portfolio, to help you achieve your long-term goals.

Visit Cadro.com to learn more about how we use both investments to build a diversified portfolio.

Big thanks to for the great space and the much-needed espresso ☕

Not all index funds are made equal.

The S&P 500 index tracks the largest 500 companies in the US, but the difference between investing in a “market cap” and “equally weighted” fund can have huge consequences for your outcomes, depending on how markets are functioning.

Our Co-founder and CEO, Nataša Williams returns with a simple visual: what actually happens when you invest £500 in each of the two versions of the same index, and what can that mean for returns along the way?

S&P 500 Market cap: £500 invested proportionally, according to each company’s weight in the index. So, if one company accounts for 50% of the index, 50% of your £500 (£250) goes into shares of that company.

S&P 500 Equally Weighted: £500 will invested equally across each of the 500 companies in the index. So, £1 per company.

Same index. Very different exposure.

🕗 Time in the market vs timing the market

With investing, everyone wants to catch the perfect moment – buying at the bottom, and selling at the top. Timing it, however, is far harder than it seems and the attempt is often more costly than simply waiting.

With spring underway, our Investment Manager Evan Morris takes to the park to break down the difference between timing the market and time in the market, the data behind it, and why staying put can often be your ticket to better long-term outcomes.

What could AI mean for your personal reputation?

If a computer is making the decisions, what oversight will we have for our ability to access systems and services? In our latest Coffee with Cadro, we sat down with World-Check founder and compliance pioneer David Leppan to hear how he’s now diving back into the world he helped create in order to implement guardrails in the age of AI.

He underlined the difficulty of deleting information AI remembers, which can dramatically affect a person’s reputation, access, and wider life.
