When investors think about Artificial Intelligence (AI), they often think about chips.

But there is another side to the story.

As AI adoption accelerates, demand for electricity, data centres, cooling systems and grid infrastructure is rising just as quickly. AI may be a digital revolution, but it relies on very physical foundations.

In our latest article, Jon Chitty, Senior Equity Analyst, explores how the opportunity for investors may extend well beyond technology companies to the businesses helping power, connect and build the infrastructure behind AI growth.

October marks ADHD Awareness Month. It's a time to build understanding, challenge stigma and celebrate different ways of thinking.

In our latest Beyond Value article, Teresa Obi, Business Development Director, explores how neurodiversity can shape how people think about money, planning for wealth and the future. She also looks at strengths often linked to neurodivergent thinking, such as creativity, fresh ideas and an entrepreneurial mindset.

As more wealth passes between generations, many women and families are thinking carefully about their financial future. Understanding different experiences can help make these conversations more open and useful.

With the Autumn Budget approaching, it can be tempting to react to every new headline.

Our latest update looks at a number of areas currently being discussed in relation to taxation, including Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and pension tax-free cash, alongside changes already scheduled from April 2027 affecting pensions and Inheritance Tax (IHT), as well as considerations around Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs), property and savings income.

The key point is simple: speculation alone should not drive significant financial decisions. Read the full update: https://ow.ly/Wt7A50ZXwca

Europe is entering a new phase of investment.

From defence and energy security to power grids and industrial capacity, governments and businesses are investing hundreds of billions of euros to strengthen resilience and support long-term growth. While these efforts may appear separate, they are part of a wider shift that is reshaping sections of the European economy.

For investors, opportunities may extend beyond the headline sectors to the companies providing the infrastructure, technology and expertise needed to bring these plans to life.

In our October Counterpoint, we look at how markets are balancing two very different forces: resilient growth on one side and rising political uncertainty on the other.

The global economy continues to show surprising strength, supported by solid earnings and the ongoing Artificial Intelligence (AI) investment cycle. Yet investors are looking beyond economic data and focusing more on politics, with key elections approaching across Europe.

Against this backdrop, the case for diversification remains strong. Rather than trying to predict every political shift or market move, we believe investors are best served by focusing on resilient portfolios that can perform across a range of outcomes.

For years, bond investors had to rely on falling yields and rising prices to generate attractive returns. Today, the picture looks very different.

Higher starting yields mean that income is once again playing a meaningful role in bond returns. Investors can increasingly earn attractive income from high-quality fixed income without necessarily taking excessive risk.

While discipline remains essential, the return of income may be one of the most important shifts in financial markets in recent years.

Yesterday, we hosted our second Beyond Value female community event, this time exploring the relationship between wealth and wellbeing, and what it means to live well now.

Held at the beautiful Grantley Hall, we were delighted to welcome guests for an energising Pilates session, lunch, and the opportunity to connect with like-minded women in a relaxed and inspiring setting. We were also privileged to hear from our expert speakers, Amelia Bell, Multiplatform Beauty Director at Harper's Bazaar and ELLE UK, Holly Puddephatt, founder of elethea Studios, and Lindy Claassen, Senior Associate Wealth Planner, in a thought-provoking discussion hosted by Katrina Johnson, Head of Private Bank – North. Together, they explored their perspectives on the links between financial wellbeing, physical health and personal fulfilment.

The afternoon sparked thoughtful conversation around confidence, clarity and purpose, while highlighting the value of creating meaningful connections with others navigating similar life experiences. Thank you to our panel, Lisa Morrisson, Director, Client Advisor for being a wonderful host and to all of our guests who joined us and helped make the event such a success. We look forward to continuing the conversation through our Beyond Value community.
