Advisers' Budget 2026 wish lists – 'this is a scary one'
Paul Denley, CEO at London-based Oakham Wealth Management, said: “My biggest hope is that this is a Budget for growth rather than another exercise in finding new things to tax.” Stability is paramount, he added, pointing out the nation has already had changes to capital gains tax, inheritance tax, pensions, business reliefs and taxes on savings and dividends, each presented as a one-off. “Reversals are probably wishful thinking, but a benign Budget that leaves the regime alone, and signals it will stay that way, would itself be welcome,” he said.
Financial advisers are braced for unwelcome surprises in the upcoming Autumn Budget, even as they call on politicians to stay away from more changes that disrupt client’s tax and retirement planning.
