Forgotten places is a pillar of compassionate capitalism which helps solve the issue of urban rehabilitation through various initiatives covering media education, rankings, services, and franchised business operations. Forgotten places’ running initiatives include satellite TV Broadcast with the famous TV show Forgotten Places, App-based services in Urban Rehabilitation, Ranking Advocates, read & win, Lord Lottery, winners & projects, Randy King, New Africa Realtor. The Satellite TV Department seeks investigative journalists that will find the in-depth stories our readers want to know. They will evaluate the priorities of our target demographic before finding newsworthy statistics and occurrences to report. We need our Investigative Journalists to understand their subject matter from the inside out. They need to be accurate in the facts reported, but they also need to have the writing skills to keep people engaged in the pieces all the way to the end. We look to our Investigative Journalists to deliver new insights and draw relevant conclusions that will help our viewers better understand the topic in terms of exposing the abuses of power, uncovering wrongdoing and hold our public institutions and leaders accountable. The ideal person must be responsible for pursuing ambitious accountability journalism as well as providing deeper reporting on big breaking news events. The subject matter is wide-ranging, encompassing countries, cities, counties and state government, public schools, law enforcement and more within the 600 jurisdictions in Africa.
The role includes but not limited to:
1.Produce original content on-air and on all digital platforms that evoke emotion and tell compelling stories.
2.Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, we**am interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
3.Contact sources and develop investigative news and stories that are unique and captivating.
4.Develop news sources for general assignment and special areas of interest.
5.Investigate and report the illegal activities of public and private institutions.
6.Contribute to daily and breaking news content
7.Use open records laws and computer assisted reporting skills to find information and data that lend depth and context to your stories
8.Deliver on-air news events in an engaging, exciting, and accurate manner
9.Interview news subjects and research for facts and credibility
10.Shoot and edit while using the latest tools to help tell great stories
11.Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer
12.Engage in the identification, recruitment, and training of required user roles on the BWS platform.
Requirements
University degree in communications, public relations, media studies, linguistics and other related social science discipline.
At least two years of experience in a media organization
Must have strong critical thinking and data analytical skills.
Flexible schedule but willing to go the extra mile for a story.
Excellent writing skills and clear verbal communication skills.
Subject matter expertise in any human development area would be an added advantage
Proficiency in any of Arabic, French, Amharic, or Portuguese is an added advantage
Must be a female
