We were therefore delighted to help Loughton Bowling Club by supplying 12 new branded foot mats. It was wonderful to see them in use during the club's Finals Weekend and to play a small part in supporting such a fantastic local club.

We are proud to support organisations that encourage participation, friendship and community spirit, and we look forward to developing our relationship with the club in the years ahead.

How pension changes could affect your inheritance tax plans

For many people, a pension is one of their biggest assets. From April 2027, it could also become an important inheritance tax (IHT) consideration. From this date, most unused pension funds will be included when the value of someone's estate is calculated for IHT purposes.

For some families, this will make little difference. For others, especially those with larger pension pots or estates, it could mean that more tax is due and less wealth passes to loved ones.

In the coming months, we’ll publish a series of articles exploring what the new rules could mean for people and their estate-planning decisions.

In this article, we explain what’s changing, who may be affected and some practical steps to consider.

Where there's a Will, there's a say

If you die without a valid Will, the rules of intestacy set out who inherits your estate.
For unmarried couples, a surviving partner would have no entitlement to their partner’s estate unless this wish had been explicitly documented in a valid Will.
For cohabiting couples, how you own your home matters. If owned as joint tenants, the whole property will automatically pass to the surviving partner on death.

There are many reasons for not making a Will. These range from ‘not getting round to it’ to thinking we’re too young to need one. There is also a common assumption that partners and children will automatically receive their fair share.

However, with family structures more blended than ever before, failing to prepare for who should benefit from your assets could mean your wishes are not realised.

According to the 2025 National Wills Report, 79% of UK adults are comfortable talking about death1. Yet when it comes to considering finances, only 36% of people have made a Will2.. This highlights the uncomfortable gap many of us fall into between discussing and doing.

Are millennials failing to protect their future?

For many people in their 30s and early 40s, life can feel like a constant balancing act – managing a mortgage, building a career, raising a family and trying to keep up with day to day costs.

With so much focus on the here and now, thinking about long-term protection can easily fall down the priority list. This could leave many financially exposed to unexpected events.

Millennials, those aged around 30 to 45, are at a defining and often stressful stage of life. With such constant change, many barely have the time or inclination to stop and think about future risks – especially the unwelcome ones. But being proactive can pay off.

Women and wealth: A growing frontier

Women own more wealth than at any time in history. Money is being earned, created through entrepreneurship, and inherited by women through wealth transfer at a rapidly growing rate.
But for many women there are still significant barriers to growing their wealth and gaining financial security. This is because they must navigate a financial and economic system designed predominantly by men, which often doesn’t reflect their lives.
However, a quiet revolution is happening. With women holding more wealth in their own right, they are beginning to demand a different approach from financial services providers – and from financial advice. While the pace of change is likely to be slow, a shift is on the horizon.

New 22% charge on cash in investment ISAs
The government has announced a 22% charge on the interest on cash savings held within non-cash ISAs, including stocks and shares ISAs and innovative finance ISAs, from April 2027.
ISA providers and investors have been calling for government to give clarity on the treatment of cash holdings in non-cash ISAs. It follows the announcement in the Budget in November last year of a reduction in the annual tax-free cash ISA allowance for the under-65s from next April.
The government has also unveiled a simplified ISA for first-time buyers, which will replace the lifetime ISA. The first-time buyer ISA will continue to pay a bonus on savers’ money and will remove the exit penalty, for those who choose not to use the proceeds for a house purchase.
From April 2027, the annual tax-free cash ISA allowance will fall to £12,000 for savers under 65. The annual limit for stocks and shares ISAs and innovative finance ISAs will remain at £20,000. The annual cash ISA allowance for those aged 65 and over will remain at £20,000.
