On Saturday, the team at Smarter Payments supported Guernsey Cricket at their U19 Cricket World Cup qualifier and what a match it was!🏏

Our Head of Marketing presented the Man of the Match award to Freddie Forshaw, who delivered a stunning performance with 5 for 14.

Guernsey's 66-run victory over France was brilliant to watch. Congratulations to the entire U19s team on making it two wins from two! 👏

Guernsey have all-but booked their place in the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup Europe Division Two Qualifier semi-finals with a game to spare after making it back-to-back wins to start the tournament.

📣 Meet the Team | Emma Tyler – Customer Services & Sales Support Team Leader

When we first started working with Emma, we discovered she’d previously been fired from a teaching role after allegedly leading a student revolt.
Naturally, we saw leadership potential and decided to take a chance on her!

Before joining Smarter, Emma taught English, so we’re fairly confident she knows her alphabet (even if she insists it’s all phonetic anyway). She also worked for a legal firm, which means she can spell most words without having to ask Google first.

These days, Emma keeps our customers happy, our sales team organised, and the rest of us in line.

To ensure optimal performance, we’ve provided her with a sunny field in Spain, access to a swimming pool, plenty of fresh air, and room to roam. It’s all part of our employee wellbeing programme.

Emma is also a dog trainer, which means she’s spent years working with energetic, demanding characters who occasionally bark when they don’t get their own way. Needless to say, customer service came naturally.

For the safety of our customers, we do keep her at arm’s length from time to time… but only when she’s had too much coffee.

In all seriousness, Emma leads our Customer Services & Sales Support team with a huge amount of care, patience, and dedication, and we’re lucky to have her.

🏠 My Smarter Payments Story

I spent six fantastic years with a leading independent payments provider, progressing from Business Development Manager through to Regional Manager. It was a brilliant environment that gave me the opportunity to grow professionally and build some incredible relationships along the way.

After a period with another major payments organisation, I realised that while the package was attractive, I missed being part of a close-knit team with a strong culture and shared vision. I wanted to be somewhere that felt collaborative, ambitious, and genuinely focused on helping both customers and colleagues succeed.

When I was introduced to Smarter Payments, it quickly became clear that this was exactly the kind of business I had been looking for. I joined in January 2026 and haven't looked back.

The business is growing rapidly, with the launch of innovative solutions including our mobile app, Pay by Link, Crypto Pay and Smarter POS Intelligence. It's exciting to be part of a company that's constantly looking for new ways to help businesses improve their payment experience and operate more efficiently.

No two days are ever the same, and that's exactly how I like it. My role focuses on supporting independent merchant services sales across multiple UK territories, working with hospitality, retail and service-based businesses.

I spend my time meeting business owners, reviewing their current payment arrangements and helping them identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiency and access solutions that genuinely work for their business.

Outside of work, I'm a qualified life coach, and that has a huge influence on how I approach leadership and business. I'm passionate about personal development and helping others achieve their goals, both professionally and personally.
