Meet our Head of Trade Finance Alan Gordon

Alan brings 40 years of Trade Finance & Structuring experience. After 15 years in Trade Finance Banking, he joined Trafigura in 1993 as Global Head of Trade Finance, contributing significantly to the company's success during this period. Since joining the firm back in 2013, Alan is the Head of Trade Finance and a key member of Kimura's Investment Committee.

Meet our Chief Commercial Officer Warren Kirrane

Warren Kirrane is a Partner and Chief Commercial Officer at Kimura Capital LLP. Prior to joining Kimura in 2018, he spent 10 years at Trafigura and his most recent position at Blue Oil Energy as a partner and oil broker.

Kimura were happy to take part in the roundtable organised by the London Market Association (LMA) during their annual Commodities Finance Seminar.

During the roundtable there were some really insightful discussions around the liquidity available in the market to finance commodity trade flows, developments of ECA structures, the impact of sanctions on business, challenges ahead raised by Basel IV implementation and the exciting progress in digitization within the industry.

A big thanks to the LMA for putting this together, and kudos to Tawfik Sadfi, Caroline Kuijt, and David Leggott for making it such a productive discussion!

Barry Horton (Head of Compliance) attended the Fraud in Trade Finance Masterclass on 2nd October 2024, hosted by the ICC. It was a great opportunity to gain valuable insights into the latest fraud risks and prevention strategies in trade finance.

The event was led by industry experts and covered critical topics on combating trade fraud. Key sessions focused on fraud prevention strategies, real-world case studies, and the role of technology for fraud prevention.

Barry shared some insights from his experience, stating, "This Masterclass was engaging, informative and provided an opportunity to engage and share thoughts with industry professionals."

Overall it was a great opportunity to learn from top leaders in trade finance and digitalisation.

Neil has 40 years of energy market experience and has provided strategic guidance at Kimura since 2013, working alongside Kriss Tremaine. Neil's career spans roles in refining, shipping, trading, and senior commercial positions.

We are delighted to welcome George Baker to the team!

George joins us as a Collateral Manager within the Middle Office. Working previously for Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank and Bank of China as a Collateral Manager, he has expertise within loans admin and the Trade Finance sector. He most recently completed his Certificate in Trade Finance further enhancing his knowledge within the industry.

We are excited to welcome Nomi as our new Assistant Accountant.

In this role, she will work closely with the Finance Director on all accounting matters across Kimura. Nomi previously worked at ITV Studios, where she supported the management of ITV's soaps. With a master’s degree in Accounting and Finance, she is on track to become an ACCA member within the next year.

Kimura Capital were delighted to attend the Asia Pacific Petroleum Conference (APPEC 2024) during the 9th - 12th September. On the 11th of September our CEO, Kristofer Tremaine, had the additional pleasure of attending the BP Trading and Shipping Evening 2024 in Singapore.

The conference was an excellent opportunity for insightful discussions, networking, and engaging with key players in the industry with continued growth and collaboration within the trading and shipping sectors.

He will lead asset origination, bringing over 15 years of banking experience in trade finance, covering metals, agriculture, and energy. Tim joins us from ING Geneva, where he managed major commodity trader accounts. He also has experience from Natixis in Paris and CMBS origination in New York.
