🇺🇸 Cryptocurrency Czar David Sachs calls regulation of stackablecoins a priority
David Sachs, Donald Trump's designated “czar” for cryptocurrencies and AI, said that the administration's key cryptocurrency challenge is to create a regulatory framework for stablecoins. In an interview with CNBC, he emphasized that such assets could strengthen the dollar's position internationally and increase demand for U.S. Treasuries.
Sachs spoke at a press conference with senators and members of Congress, where he supported the steiblecoin bill introduced by Senator Bill Hagerty. The document solidifies the status of stablecoins as digital assets tied to the dollar, imposes mandatory licensing of issuing companies (such as Tether or Circle) and reserve requirements, and aims to support “financial inclusion” and “strengthen the dollar's position.” According to Sachs, the bill could be passed in the next six months.
