This is a reasonable article outlining "well here is the problem", we agree that every city might implement in a different way.

However why is it that every place, everyone thinks they need to start from scratch.

There is the United Nations 2030 Global Goals, for Smart Sustainable Cities. There is a wealth of knowledge, organisations and experience out there already.

Why not leverage from those who have gone before, which I hope they will.

There is already a Blue Print for the planet, we don't have to keep reinventing the wheel.

The authors said local leaders should invest more time to ensure the energy transition is equitable and does not leave marginalized communities behind.

Interesting article this morning, includes carrying out due diligence at a distance and how technology can help with that. I know quite a few people involved in property developments and that can work well.

Save travel, time and can speed up the whole process, not to mention a lower carbon footprint. Definitely I see the new normal will be that some of these newly adopted practices will be here to stay

Also liked to see that gold gets a mention as a couple of months ago I gave an opinion on that, seems to hold true.

Then there are the scandals and see JP Morgan is not been cast in a good light but of course we need to for history to take it's course to see the true story.

Great initiative but some of the choices being made in the UK have not been the smartest in the last couple of decades.

The UK is well positioned to make use of a lot of green energy with wind turbines for example producing 20 times more energy than when they were first sited. Renewing existing sites is not a bad option.

Another hardly talked about topic is the cookers we have in each house, the collective replacement fo those would make a significant impact. Will write an article on that one, we might be upgrading cars to electric which few may be able to afford but the former can help.

This is great news as Open Data and Open Data Standards is essential to help Smart Sustainable Cities too.

This helps with "Inclusion" of Cities from all Nations, especially poorer countries as this can be a barrier to entry.

Artificial Intelligence is starting to play a bigger role, so this is essential.

Example being the prediction of air quality and re-routing or banning of traffic for a certain period of time. Another example being able to alert emergency services ahead of time, potentially saving lives.

Thrilled to be able to participate and contribute to the United Nations Thematic Groups for "Smart Sustainable Cities"

This afternoon was the kick off meeting for "Guiding Principles for Artificial Intelligence in Cities" hosted by Ilia Londo from the ITU.

The contribution & collaboration by attendees was amazing, certainly many smart people with a lot of knowledge and ideas to contribute.

Even though this group is seen as one "Sustainable Development Goal" SDG11, the reality is it transcends many others too ...

Definitely agree with the title, bravo and we cannot be the only ones thinking this either!

Now is time not to politicize the virus, with some countries trying to grab more dominate roles but to come together to make real societal change.

This is truly the time for change, for the better in so many ways...

Let's stop the over-consumption, the need for growth everywhere at the cost of decimating the planet.

Let's stop plundering our oceans, our forests and just as importantly respecting our fellow world citizens and cease some of these needless and futile wars.

War, is the ultimate failure of mankind ...

Let's bring more women to the table and demand true equality but not exclusion of others too.

A make-do-and-mend approach will not be enough — we need a societal transformation
