The Dunes in Perranporth won the 'RICS South West Residential Award' and the 'South West Insider Residential Development of the Year' in 2019. It was Acorn Blue's first directly built project and one that set a standard the team has been building on ever since.

Cornwall has always been central to who Acorn is. From the regeneration of Headland Road in Newquay to coming soon developments at Gannel Waterside near Newquay, Market Quay in Falmouth, and Mawgan View near Mawgan Porth, the region continues to inspire some of the group's most ambitious and site-specific work.

32 awards since 2009. And counting.

Duncan Powell has been part of Acorn Property Group since 2014. As Group Planning Director, he works across everything from high-value boutique schemes to large-scale strategic land promotions (with the occasional lunchtime surf from Newquay thrown in!).

We love hearing from the people who help shape what Acorn builds and how it grows.

The Somerset village of Wedmore. Surrounded by the lush levels, with dramatic views of the Mendip Hills and only eight miles from Cheddar Gorge, it has everything a rural community should: independent shops, village pubs, a local café scene, and a pace of life that is genuinely restorative.

Acorn Property Group's The Close at Cross Farm sits within this landscape. Nine homes designed to fit the village rather than impose on it, with open-plan living, air source heat pumps, solar PV panels, and EV charging points built in as standard.

The Old Printworks in Frome sits on the site of the former Butler, Tanner and Dennis works, once one of Britain's finest colour printers. When Acorn Property Group took it on, the challenge was to honour that industrial heritage while creating a genuinely liveable neighbourhood.

159 homes later, this award-winning development is home to a thriving community where there have been numerous cups of tea with neighbours, street parties and open gardens.

This is a prime example of what good development looks like - not just a collection of houses, but a place people choose to stay as demonstrated by Sami and Max who were the very first residents to move into the first phase. Years later, their family has grown along with their need for space. Not wanting to leave the neighbourhood they love, they bought their second home on the last phase of the development.

Danica Clements joined Acorn Property Group in 2016 as Group Marketing Director. Over a decade on, she is still here, and still proud of the same thing: a business that has grown consistently without losing what makes it different.

Wayne Rundle has been part of Acorn Property Group since 2014, working as Project Coordinator for our Devon and Cornwall region, Acorn Blue.

For Wayne, the most rewarding part of the job is simple: being there from the very beginning of a project right through to the moment a customer steps into their finished home. In an industry where people often only see one part of the process, that end-to-end involvement is something he would not trade.

Tempus at Parc y Coleg in Caerleon, South Wales involves the careful conversion of several Grade II listed buildings into 48 new homes. Among them is a building that some viewers may recognise having previously featured in Netflix's S*x Education series.

Bringing a building like this back into use requires a very particular set of skills. Listed status means every intervention must be considered and justified, from the materials used to the way original features are treated and retained. It is detailed, specialist work. It is also exactly the kind of project Acorn Property Group has been taking on for 30 years.

Converting a Grade II listed building often comes with many challenged. At Fairford Green, where we are working on the conversion of a former school house to create four family homes along with a new build addition, the team uncovered several surprises within the building’s fabric including compromises in the foundations and a crack in the gable-end which both required structural reinforcement prior to other works starting.

In addition, matching new stonework to the original required consultation with planning authorities and the selection of local Cotswold Natural Stone in Golden Cream. Original box sash windows were carefully restored in consultation with the Georgian Society, with secondary glazing added subtly to match energy performance across old and new alike.

Brandon Yard sits on Bristol's historic harbourside, a stretch of waterfront that has been at the heart of the city for centuries. When Acorn took on the site, the brief was not to impose something new, but to respond honestly to what was already there.

The result was a residential scheme that balanced sensitive restoration of the existing historic buildings with compelling contemporary additions. It went on to win the South West Insider 'Residential Development of the Year in 2020', the Bristol Property Awards 'Development of the Year in 2019', and a RESI Award Highly Commended in 2018.

For Acorn, it remains one of the clearest examples of what the 'Different by Design' ethos looks like in practice. Not design for its own sake, but design that serves a place, a community, and a building's own history.

The upcoming autumn budget could bring changes that ripple through the property market - from tax tweaks to housing-policy signals.
