Dollar yen is getting hit again. The yen's surging after BOJ board member Takata floated bigger, faster rate hikes.. and it's already dragged the pair below its 200-day average. This is the other side of those 30-year-high Japanese vields.. higher rates at home pull the yen back up and put the whole carry trade on watch.

Snowflake up 25% premarket.. so why am I not convinced? On a non-GAAP basis it beat and raised guidance. But under GAAP it's still lossmaking, with stock-based comp running near 35% of revenue and insiders selling over $1bn this past year. The gap between the adjusted numbers evervone's celebrating and the GAAP reality is the whole point.

Dell popped around 8% after earnings.. and it's all about AI servers. Record revenue of $47bn, up 58% year on year, with a record $60.9bn in Al server orders and a $95bn backlog behind it. The real storv beneath the beat is margins.. whether that surge in Al-server revenue actually turns into profit, not just top-line growth.

Japanese bond yields just hit a 30-year high.. and it might be the most important chart in alobal markets right now. Japan's 10-year yield touched 3% for the first time since 1996, driven by inflation and fiscal worries. Here's why it matters everywhere: Japan is the biggest foreign holder of US debt, so as its own yields climb, the pull to sell Treasuries grows.. and that drags global rates higher.

Software has quietly reversed. and it's not just the price. The names left for dead earlier this year are roaring back, with Atlassian up nearly 90% in August alone. The bigger shift is in sentiment and positioning.. after months of pricing in Al wiping out software earnings are forcing a rethink.

Is Venezuela about to leave OPEC?
Reports say Caracas is weighing an exit from the cartel it helped found over 60 vears ago, as its ties with the US deepen and the oil deals open up. No final decision vet.. but a founding member even considering it tells you how much the ground is shifting.

Nvidia and Salesforce both smashed it last night. Nvidia revenue up 106% vear on year. Salesforce a record quarter, with Benioff once again batting away the "SaaSpocalypse" Al disruption fears.
But here's the nuance on Nvidia. It's the biggest capex spender and the biggest capex receiver in the entire Al build-out. Semis are cyclical. Margins don't sit at the top forever.. it's a question of when, not if. And the counterintuitive part: these stocks often screen cheapest right at the top of the cycle.

Nvidia earnings and core PCE.. both land today.

Two macro events. one session. Core PCE this morning, the Fed's favoured inflation read. back on the calendar after the shutdown shuffle. Then Nvidia after the close.
Expectations are enormous.. revenue close to doubling vear on year. But the whole data centre stack is shifting underneath it. Custom silicon, agentic Al, hyperscalers building their own chips.
The real question isn't whether Nvidia beats. It's whether it can hold its margins as the stack fragments.

Markets are lost for direction. And Stanley Druckenmiller just called out Scott Bessent.
The Treasury is buying back long-dated bonds to hold vields down. Druckenmiller's read: that's price management, not liquidity management. Governments defending prices against fundamentals always lose.
30-year yield at a 19-year high, debt at $40 trillion.. and the man who mentored Bessent is telling him to let the bond market speak.
