Interesting observation of society pointed out on an audio I listened to. 3 different social media posts 👇🏻
1. ‘I’m so excited, I got a promotion in my job today‘ (typically lots more work and less personal time with a slight pay increase) = 100’s of likes/loves, 100’s of congratulatory comments.
2. ‘I’m so excited, I’ve left my job to open a shop/traditional business’ (typically 10’s if not 100’s of thousands of £’s investment, huge risk and working 18/20 hour days) = 100’s of likes/loves, 100’s of congratulatory comments
3. ‘I’m so excited, I’ve started an online business and can’t wait to share it with you all’ (low risk, low investment, high reward, work around your current commitments) = 3 likes and 1 comment
It’s so sad that typically society has such a low opinion of anything that doesn’t look like a way to earn an living from how we were taught at school or by our parents. The world is changing very fast and we need to adapt.
We are programmed from such a young age, and all through education, to look for jobs, so when we see something that looks different we often question its validity based on someone else’s opinion or that early programming, rather than the facts we’ve been given. We should support everyone no matter their chosen path.
Most people would love more time or more money or more of a purpose or to contribute more, but are held back from achieving these things through fear. The people who have all of these things felt exactly the same way, but took action anyway in spite of that fear.
