🏆 World Cup trophy’s gold value dropped £20,000 during tournament 🏆
The FIFA World Cup trophy’s 18-carat gold content declined in value by £20,134, or 5.3%, during the 2026 tournament as it played out over 39 days – from 11 June to 19 July – the longest and biggest World Cup in history, with 48 teams competing. ⚽️
At the start of the World Cup just over five weeks ago, the trophy’s pure gold content was worth an estimated £380,398. By the time Spain secured the title on Sunday, the figure had fallen to £360,264. ✨
