Green Space Leisure Ltd

Green Space Leisure Ltd Providing our beloved parks with the Active Recreational Facilities their visitors will love, removing the financial burden from local authourities.

The Greenspace Solution. Every park is different, but a typical rejuvenation process will include the following steps:

Parks can be divided into two distinct areas. Active and Passive Recreational. Active Recreation involves activities such as playgrounds, skate parks, putting and bowling greens. Active facilities require extensive maintenance and cost significant sums to provide. Passive Recreat

ion, things such as floral displays and walks, require relatively little management and can be provided at lower cost

Greenspace understands the difficulties local authorities face maintaining all park facilities on decreasing budgets. That’s why we have developed a sustainable model to provide our beloved parks with the Active Recreational Facilities their visitors will love, removing the financial burden from local authorities leaving them free to focus their investment on passive recreational facilities. Who says business & family don’t mix? I’d like to say the Greenspace story is one of fortune and intrigue, but it’s not. It’s a story of graft and commitment. Family lies at the core of Greenspace. Our business is a family owned enterprise, and our business is about bringing families together. The park should be the hub and identity of any community. It’s where families spend real, engaging time together. It’s where people find fun and peace. It’s where children learn to play and socialise. It’s where we get fit (for free!) and where we go to calibrate our minds in a world of competing distraction. Like many, we’ve watched the decline of many parks both in terms of central investment during austere times, and also from families with the mass adoption of isolating technological activities. We believe it’s a self perpetuating cycle of decline. Our vision is to stop the downward spiral of park facilities one park at a time. We have successfully demonstrated through our partnerships with local authorities, that with the right planning, management and facilities, we can help restore parks to their former glory; only this time with a self sustaining model behind them. Cannon Hill Park is the premier park in the UK’s second city, Birmingham. Greenspace worked closely with Birmingham Council in planning a new mini golf facility to replace the unused and unstaffed putting green.

Greenspace began by installing the world's largest portable mini golf structure. This would serve as a proof of concept before the real development began. Following a successful trial, the Council granted Greenspace a long term lease to develop and operate the new course.

Clifton Park Golden putter and Family Fun

13 years ago, Clifton Park was suffering like any other park across the country due to the lack of available funding. The park was tired and needed some tender loving care. In particular, the amusements facilities operated by Rotherham Borough Council were old and unreliable, and expensive to run.

The Council sought a partner with the necessary expertise and resources to breathe new life into these facilities, and consequently Greenspace were invited to rejuvenate and operate them.

Since then, Greenspace have invested over £1m in new facilities, while the Council has secured substantial funding, including a £4.5m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund’s ‘Parks for People’ programme for the refurbishment and regeneration of this attractive and historical park. The expanded and improved amusements are now a major attraction, helping Clifton Park to achieve more than 1.3m visits a year.

Greenspace in partnership with the Council also runs and hosts a number of seasonal events including a "Halloween Spectacular" which have helped to make Clifton Park an iconic venue.

Footfall growth to 1.2m
Greenspace investment > £1.2m
Lottery funding £6m
Operational savings to Council
Destination day out
Increased footfall to museum & café
