What does it take to build one of the UK’s most iconic nights out?

We sat down with Jess Helliar, the new CEO of Bongo's Bingo, to talk growth, venues, risk, compliance, consumer trends and what comes next for the brand.

From packed-out UK shows to international expansion, festivals and sell-out events overseas, Bongo’s Bingo has become a proper nightlife phenomenon.

But behind the chaos, confetti and crowd-pleasing moments is a business built on strong partnerships, smart planning and a deep understanding of what audiences want from a night out.

Jess gives us an exclusive look at how Bongo’s Bingo keeps evolving, and why experiential nightlife still has huge room to grow.

Today at NDML HQ, we were proud to welcome Safer Business Network to deliver WAVE training for some of our clients.

Welfare and Vulnerability Engagement training, helps licensed venues give their teams the skills, knowledge and confidence to spot vulnerability, support customers, and make appropriate interventions when it matters most. It also supports the Ask for Angela scheme, helping people discreetly ask trained staff for help if they feel unsafe.

It’s about helping operators protect their people, strengthen their teams, reduce risk, and create safer spaces for customers to enjoy.

A massive thank you to Safer Business Network for delivering such valuable training, and to the venues who joined us today.

This is what partnership with the night-time economy looks like.

Pride starts at the door 🏳️‍🌈

Pub Pride 2026 is coming up on Friday 29th May, kicking off Pride Month with a celebration of LGBTQ+ inclusion across pubs, bars, clubs, cafés, festivals and hospitality venues.

Led by Ask For Clive, the campaign helps venues show that they are welcoming, inclusive spaces with zero tolerance for homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism or any form of hate.

For venue owners, this is about more than putting a sticker in the window. It’s about making sure staff are trained, customers feel safe, and everyone knows your venue is a place where people can enjoy themselves without fear of discrimination.

There’s still time to get involved in Pub Pride 2026 and show your support.

They need people in their corner who understand the sector, communicate clearly, and genuinely want venues to succeed.

We’re proud to work with operators across the country and even prouder when they say they’d recommend us.

Martyn’s Law is moving closer, and nightlife venues need to be ready.

The new requirements will place greater responsibility on venues to consider how they protect the public from the threat of terrorism, with planning expected around evacuation, invacuation, lockdown procedures, staff training and communication.

For nightclubs and late-night venues, this is not something to leave until the legal deadline arrives.

Taking action now can help venues build safer procedures, train teams with confidence and understand what the upcoming requirements could mean for their business.

We’ve broken down the latest guidance and what nightclub operators should be thinking about now.

Nightlife doesn’t stand still.

Competitive socialising, daytime events, new data tools, changing customer habits... venues are evolving fast, and the businesses that adapt thoughtfully are often the ones best placed to grow.

But every new idea brings new practical questions too.

That’s why it helps to work with people who understand both the opportunities and the risks that come with change.

When something goes badly wrong at a venue, the impact goes far beyond one night of trading.

Operational pressure, licensing scrutiny, reputational damage, added compliance costs; it can all follow very quickly.

That’s why crowd management, security protocols, audits and clear procedures matter so much. Not because anyone wants to think about worst-case scenarios, but because preparation counts when venues come under pressure.

Read this case study and learn why both preparedness, and licence insurance is essential for live music venues 👇

For nightlife venues, licensing issues can escalate fast.

What starts as a complaint, concern or review can quickly become a serious threat to trade, reputation and day-to-day operations.
