We quite often get asked questions about our BankingHUB.

Across the UK, many high-street bank branches have closed as more people move to online banking. BankingHUBs were introduced to:

• Maintain access to cash
• Provide face-to-face banking for those who still need it
• Support local businesses and older customers

Think of it as a “shared bank branch” for multiple banks.

💼 What you can do there

At the hub’s main counter (run by a family business Daisy Chain & Prestwick Post Office), customers of most major banks can:
• Withdraw and deposit cash
• Pay in cheques
• Check balances
• Pay bills or top up utilities
• Get change (for businesses)

These services are available every weekday, regardless of your bank.

👩‍💼 Community bankers

A unique part of the HUB is the “community banker” system:

• Different banks send staff on specific days of the week.
• You can speak to your own bank face-to-face (no appointment needed)
• They help with more complex issues like:
• Account problems
• Fraud concerns
• Managing finances or legal access (e.g. Power of Attorney)

Kirkcudbright Banking Hub – Tuesday Service

Every Tuesday, a Community Banker from Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is available at the Kirkcudbright Banking Hub.

This is a great opportunity to:

- Speak directly with an RBS representative
- Get help with your account or banking queries
- Access support beyond standard counter services

Everyone is welcome to drop in and make use of this service.

At the Kirkcudbright Banking Hub, Royal Bank of Scotland(RBS) have a community banker with us every Tuesday.

We can help you in two main ways: everyday banking via the hub counter, and more specialist support from the RBS representative.

They can help with more detailed tasks like:

• Setting up or using online/mobile banking

• Account maintenance (e.g. updating details, bereavement support, power of attorney)

• Payments and transfers (within limits)

We get asked almost every day for advice from customers who think they might have been scammed.

We host 4 different banks who can give you advice and information on how to avoid scams.

Monday - Santander
Tuesday - RBS
Wednesday - Bank of Scotland

Friday - Barclays

Some common scams are listed below.

🚨Your bank will never cold call and ask you to move money to another account

🚨Be suspicious of any unexpected phone call or text message which appears to be from your bank and asks you to act urgently to avoid losing money

🚨Your bank or the police will never call to ask you to verify your personal details or PIN by phone or offer to pick up your card by courier

🚨They will not contact you out of the blue to participate in an investigation in which you need to withdraw money from your bank or to purchase high value goods for safe keeping

🚨Your bank will never send a courier to your home to collect your card/PIN - any requests to do so are a scam

🚨They will never ask you to withdraw money to hand to a police officer

🚨If you receive a suspicious call supposedly from your bank, hang up, wait a few minutes to clear the line and call your bank on a number you know to be genuine, such as the one on the back of your card Never give any details to a cold caller, even if they appear to know some of your details already.
