I’m proud to be a champion of the Hospice Dragons Fellowship and offer my full support to promote the fantastic service the virtual ward provides. I encourage any friends, colleagues and clients to do likewise if they are able.

We have recently launched a new philanthropy initiative designed to enhance local end of life care by supporting the expansion of our pioneering Virtual Ward service.

The programme, known as the Hospice Dragons Fellowship, brings together community minded philanthropists, business leaders and long standing supporters to help secure the long term sustainability of specialist hospice care in people’s homes.

Compton’s Virtual Ward enables patients with complex, life limiting conditions to receive round the clock hospice led care without leaving their home. Through remote monitoring, virtual consultations, rapid response visits and personalised care planning, the service allows patients to remain in familiar surroundings with dignity, comfort and expert clinical support. The service currently supports up to twenty patients at any one time and includes a dedicated advice and referral line operating twenty four hours a day, every day of the year.

Compton Care’s Chair, Ros Keeton, said: “As demand for hospice care continues to rise, the need for specialist support in people’s homes has never been greater. Our Virtual Ward is already transforming the way our community experiences end of life care, ensuring people can remain where they feel safest and most supported. The launch of the Hospice Dragons Fellowship marks a significant step forward in securing the long term future of this service. Multi year philanthropic support allows us to plan confidently, innovate more quickly and reach even more families with the care they deserve. We are deeply grateful to everyone who chooses to stand with us.”

Local businessman and long-term Compton Care supporter Nick Berriman, who has been appointed Chair of the Hospice Dragons Fellowship, added: “Compton has been close to my heart for many years, not only because of the outstanding care it provides, but because of the dignity and compassion it brings to families during their most difficult moments. The Hospice Dragons Fellowship is an opportunity for local leaders and philanthropists to come together and make a meaningful, lasting difference to our community. 🚧 Keep moving as highway improvements start at Burnt Tree Junction in the Sandwell and Dudley area this November
Highway improvement works are set to begin at Burnt Tree Junction on Monday 10 November 2025 until summer 2026. This project is part of a larger scheme to improve the operation of the junction and will include the creation of new crossing points to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
During the works traffic restrictions will be in place including temporary traffic signals and lane restrictions in both directions. In addition, bus delays may be more noticeable for those travelling from Dudley, West Bromwich, Oldbury and Great Bridge.
Please plan ahead and allow more time for your journey.

I am incredibly proud to be a member of the business club at Compton Care and today received my Certificate of Membership for my 2nd year supporting this incredible charity.
Earlier this morning I attended a member’s only Business Club meeting which took place in the Stephen Morton Room at Compton Hospice Wolverhampton, I always learn something new each time I attend these events and today was no exception.
This morning, we were introduced to the amazing Elaine Dejonge, the lovely Spiritual Care Coordinator and Chaplain at Compton, Elaine explained to us what inspired her to take on (in her words) her dream job working at Compton. Her presentation was incredibly personal, insightful, intriguing and captivating, and went way beyond what I could have imagined, and I must admit has left a lasting impression on me. I am humbled again by the level of care and support Compton and its team provide to so many people and in so many unexpected ways.
