It’s been a little quiet on here lately… 🙈
And honestly, that’s because the run up to the new tax year was so busy! Thank you to clients keeping me so busy! 📤

Lots of conversations about:
• Using allowances before they reset
• Making the most of ISAs & pensions
• And getting plans in place for the year ahead

Now things are settling, it’s a good time to take stock.

The new tax year = a fresh opportunity to get organised, make a plan, and feel more in control of your finances.

💡Here are 5 things worth checking this April:

✔️ Are you using your ISA allowance this year?
✔️ Have you reviewed your pension contributions?
✔️ Do you have a plan for your savings (not just leaving them sitting)?
✔️ Are you as tax-efficient as you could be?
✔️ Do you actually know what your long-term goal is?

You don’t need to do everything at once—but doing something is a great start.

If you’re not sure where to begin, that’s exactly what I help with!

It’s been one of those weeks where every day has been full (in a good way!) — which is probably why I haven’t managed to post on here as much as I planned 😅…

This week I’ve been busy:

✔ Attending a CPD event to keep building my knowledge and strengthening connections within the industry 📚🤝
✔ Meeting with clients to advise on a specific investment solution to help reduce their Inheritance Tax liability 🤝
✔ Submitting a remortgage application for a couple working towards funding their dream home 🏡
✔ Reviewing pension performance and income using specialist fund research tools and cash-flow modelling to make sure clients are on track with retirement goals 📈

A really varied and rewarding week, and a good reminder of how different every client journey can be.

Now it’s time to switch off, recharge and get ready for another busy one ahead.
Wishing everyone a relaxing and lovely weekend 😊

They (my kids!) worked hard to build this snowman… and then they just wanted to protect it. ☃️

It’s funny how early that instinct starts – to look after the things (and people) that matter most.

As adults, protecting our family looks a little different.
It means having the right plans in place if life doesn’t go the way we expect.

This Sunday, take a few minutes to look at what you already have in place — and ask yourself one simple question:

❓Would my family really be protected if something unexpected happened?

Protecting what matters most starts with having the right foundations in place.

Get in touch and I can help you review what you already have in place AND if it’s right for you & your family 👇🏼

Hello again 👋

It’s been a little while since I last posted, so I thought it was time for a bit of a re-introduction!

I’m an Independent Financial Adviser, a mum to two — a 7-year-old son and a 20-month-old daughter — and I’m now approaching my 6-year anniversary at Financial Design IFA Ltd

I specialise in mortgages, protection, investments, and retirement planning.

Here are just a few examples of how I’ve helped clients this week:

✅ Advised clients on solutions to reduce their Inheritance Tax liability

✅ Helped clients understand their affordability and borrowing options to support plans for a dream home extension & found them the most competitive mortgage interest rate

✅ Showing clients the potential benefits of investing into a Stocks & Shares ISA compared with a Cash ISA

I’m making a conscious effort to post more regularly on here, sharing practical, real-life financial guidance across all stages of life — from preparing to buy your first home to retirement and everything in between.

If you’d like to book in a free consultation to see how I might be able to help you, get in touch 👇🏼

If you’re in your 20s or 30s and not thinking about your pension yet — I get it.
Retirement can feel like a lifetime away. But the truth is, the sooner you start investing in your pension, the easier it is to build a future with freedom, not financial stress.

Here’s why starting now matters:

💷 You’re in your highest potential growth years. Every pound you invest today has decades to grow — thanks to the power of compounding.
🎁 Free money alert! Employer contributions + tax relief = an instant boost to your pot.
⏳ Delaying costs more. Starting at 34 vs. 44 could mean tens of thousands more at retirement — without having to contribute huge amounts.
💁🏻‍♀️ Women often live longer – Which means we need our pensions to go further.

🌿 Think of it like planting a tree: the best time was 10 years ago, the next best time is today.

You don’t need to have it all figured out — that’s where I come in. If you’re not sure where your pension stands (or if you even have one!), let’s chat. I’ll give you practical steps to get your future working for you.

📌 Please remember: the value of investments can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you invest.

💡 Life Insurance vs Critical Illness Cover — What’s the Difference? 💡
(and why everyone should know the facts)

We juggle a lot — careers, families, finances, and everything in between. But how often do we pause to ask:
👉 “If something happened to me, would my loved ones be financially protected?”

Let’s break it down:

🛡️ Life Insurance pays out a lump sum if you pass away during the policy term.
It’s designed to help your family cover things like:
✔️ Mortgage payments
✔️ Living expenses
✔️ Children’s education
✔️ Funeral costs

💖 Critical Illness Cover pays out if you’re diagnosed with a serious illness (like cancer, heart attack, or stroke).
That money can help with:
✔️ Time off work to recover
✔️ Private medical treatment
✔️ Household bills while you’re healing
✔️ Making life a little easier during a tough time

👉 The truth is, these policies aren’t just for “other people” — they’re for you. For your peace of mind. For your family’s future.

As an Independent Financial Adviser, I help people understand their protection options in plain English — no pressure, no jargon.

📩 Curious if you’ve got the right cover in place? Message me for a free, no-obligation chat. It could be the most empowering conversation you have this week.

💡Thinking of Getting a Mortgage? Don’t Just Go to Your Bank! ⛔️

It might feel easy and familiar to go straight to your current bank for a mortgage — but that could mean missing out on better rates, more flexible terms, or products that are better suited to you. ❌

Your bank only offers their mortgages. As an Independent Financial Adviser, I search across dozens of lenders — including high street banks, building societies, and specialist providers — to find a mortgage that fits your unique circumstances. ✅

Whether you’re buying your first home, moving, or remortgaging, the difference between the bank’s offer and the right deal could cost you thousands over the years. 💷

Let me do the legwork, so you can focus on the exciting parts of home ownership (and skip the unnecessary expense). 😃

🚨 Big News: Bank of England Base Rate Cut to 4.25% – What It Means for Your Mortgage & Savings 🚨

The Bank of England has today cut the base rate from 4.5% to 4.25%, and that could mean important changes for your finances.

What this means for YOU:

🏡 Mortgage holders: If you’re on a tracker or variable rate mortgage, your repayments could soon drop. Fixed-rate deal ending soon? Now is the time to review your options – you could save hundreds a month by locking in the right deal.

🔑 First-time buyers: Lower rates can mean more affordable monthly payments – let’s see what you could qualify for now.

💰 Savers: While savings rates may dip slightly, smart planning can still make your money work harder.

As an Independent Financial Adviser, I help clients understand what this means for their specific situation – not just the headlines.

If you’ve been thinking about remortgaging, buying your first home, or just want clarity on how this change affects you – send me a message or book a free chat. 📧

Let’s make sure your money is working in your favour.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

💰SAVING vs INVESTING – Which is right for YOU? 💰

Many people in the UK are great at saving… but is saving alone enough to grow your money? 🧐

Here’s the difference:
Saving is about safety. It’s keeping your money in cash, earning modest interest. Ideal for short-term goals or an emergency fund.
Investing is about growth. It involves putting money into assets like stocks or funds with the aim of building wealth over time. 📈

But here’s the key:
If you’re keeping all your money in cash, inflation could be quietly eroding its value every year.

A balanced approach might be best:
• Emergency fund? Save it.
• Long-term goals (5+ years)? Consider investing.

Need help figuring out what’s right for your situation? That’s what I’m here for.

Let’s have a free chat – no jargon, no pressure. Just honest advice.
