Time for a proper introduction 👋

Meet Ray Pettitt, the face behind Galleon Wealth Management.

Ray's been in financial services since leaving school in 1982, became an independent adviser in 1998, and set up Galleon back in January 2002. That's over two decades of sitting across the table from local families, helping them make sense of their money. ☕

A few things that matter to Ray:

🗣️ Plain English, always - no jargon, no judgement

🤝 Real, face-to-face relationships, not a call centre

🌱 Doing the right thing for clients over the long term

He's a Suffolk man through and through (a Bury St Edmunds lad, Kesgrave-based since 1991) and, until his knees had other ideas, a keen cricketer around Suffolk and Essex. 🏏

In a world that's increasingly automated, Ray still believes the best financial planning happens in a proper conversation, with someone who knows you and your community. And we rather agree. 😊

If you'd value a friendly, no-pressure chat, we're right here in Suffolk.

Let's talk about the thing that keeps a lot of people annoyingly awake at night… 💭

When it comes to retirement, we all have that one worry that nags away more than the others. And often, simply naming it is the first step to feeling more in control of it.

So we're curious - which one resonates most with you?

💰 Running out of money
🏥 Care costs
👨‍👩‍👧 Leaving something behind for family
📈 Market ups and downs

It's Remember A Charity Week 💛

A nice moment to talk about something many people don't realise they can do.

Leaving a gift to a charity close to your heart in your will isn't just a lovely thing to do… it can also be surprisingly tax-efficient.

Here's the bit that often surprises people:

✔️ Anything you leave to charity is free from Inheritance Tax

✔️ And if you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, the IHT rate on the rest can drop from 40% to 36%

So a gift that supports a cause you care about can, in some cases, also reduce the tax bill for the family you leave behind. A rare win-win. 🌱

Like most things in estate planning, it's less about complexity and more about making sure your wishes are set out in the way you intend.

This is for information only and does not constitute financial advice. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and is based on current UK legislation, which may change.

Turning 50 often signals the start of an empty nest, but for one family, that milestone brought a different reality. With four adult children still living at home or planning to return, retirement, travel, and downsizing plans have taken an unexpected new shape.
