We are delighted to announce that Watson Wood Financial Planning has been recognised as one of FT Adviser’s Top 50 Boutique IFAs in the UK for 2026. It is great to see the company being rated in the top 50 Boutique firms, given there are around 5,500 authorised firms in the UK.

The ranking, compiled by FT Adviser in partnership with ISS Market Intelligence, recognises boutique financial advice firms based on a range of measures reflecting both business performance and client outcomes.

The assessment considers factors including assets under management, asset growth, net flows, client retention, length of service, estimated investment performance and professional accreditation.

Being included in the Top 50 is a meaningful recognition of the strength and development of Watson Wood, as well as the professionalism and expertise of our team.

Kevin, Kirsty and Shelley from Watson Wood, along with Sarah and Tia from Albemarle attended the launch of this years Future Asset competition.

Future Asset helps young girls develop their understanding of investment and financial services, giving them the skills and confidence to explore careers in the industry.

The Watson Wood team are proud to support the programme by mentoring the students throughout their competition journey.

A great initiative and we’re looking forward to being involved again this year.

Christina and Jason were pleased to represent the Chartered Institute of Insurance at the recent Careers Fair at Eden Court.

They had the opportunity to speak with people at all stages of their careers, from school leavers exploring their options to experienced professionals considering a career change.

They enjoyed showcasing the diverse career opportunities available within insurance and financial services, as well as highlighting how CII membership can help individuals develop their skills, gain professional qualifications and progress their careers.

At the recent CityWire Scotland retreat, Kirsty and Martyn were delighted to pick up the Citywire New Model Adviser Scotland & Northern Ireland Independent Financial Adviser of the Year award from guest speaker John Hartson.

The award recognises the team for their commitment to delivering excellent client service. It also recognises our work with local schools where we deliver sessions to pupils to help raise their awareness around the importance of financial planning.

We’ve got some really exciting news to share…

Watson Wood has been named a winner at the Citywire New Model Adviser Financial Planning firm of the year for Scotland and Northern Ireland – for the second time in three years!

It’s a great achievement for the whole team, and something we’re really proud of. These awards recognise firms delivering high-quality financial planning and strong client outcomes, so to be recognised at this level means a lot to us.

But it’s not just about the work we do with our client's day to day — it’s also about the role we play in the wider community. Supporting financial education in local schools is something that’s really important to us, and we’re proud to be helping build knowledge and confidence for the next generation.

What makes this even more special is that it reflects the consistent work that goes on behind the scenes every day — both supporting our clients and continuing to grow as a business.

🌟 Career Spotlight: Kirsty- Watson Wood Financial Planning

Meet Kirsty, a former Bishopmill Primary and Elgin Academy pupil who has built an incredible career right here in Moray.

Kirsty knew she wanted a professional career but didn’t want to go to university straight after school, she wanted to learn on the job. So she started as a Trainee Financial Adviser, worked her way up, and is now a Chartered Financial Planner and Director at Watson Wood Financial Planning.

Her favourite subject at school was English, which still helps her today with the report writing her role involves.

Kirsty’s proudest moments include becoming Chartered, achieving her degree, and starting her own business — proof that there’s no single “right” path to success.
