Well, another Autumn Budget, and plenty for us all to get our heads around! 💭

Whether you’re saving for your first home, paying a mortgage, putting money aside for the future, thinking about retirement or running a local business, there’s certainly a lot to take in!

From savings and pensions to inheritance tax, housing and the cost of everyday living, there are a few things worth keeping an eye on.

And I think that’s the important thing to remember.

Here in the local community, I speak to people at all different stages of life. Some are just starting out, others are busy juggling family life and work, and some are looking ahead to retirement or thinking about how they can support the next generation.

Everyone’s circumstances are different, and what matters most is understanding how any changes might affect you and your own plans.

The Budget might change a few things, but it doesn’t mean your goals have to change too.

Sometimes it’s simply about sitting down, having a chat and making sure everything is still heading in the right direction.

There’s been plenty happening in the financial headlines recently, from movements in global markets to inflation and the upcoming Autumn Budget.

And while it’s always useful to know what’s going on, not every headline needs to change your financial plans.

For me, financial planning is about looking beyond the day-to-day news and focusing on what really matters to you - your goals, your family and the life you’d like to enjoy.

With the Budget approaching, it’s a good time to be aware of any announcements that could affect your finances, without jumping to conclusions before the details are confirmed.

Imagine waking up one morning and suddenly being the person responsible for all the finances.

The savings. The pension. The investments. The house.

Perhaps you’ve lost someone you love. Perhaps you’re going through a divorce. Or maybe you’ve received an inheritance you never expected.

Yesterday, these weren’t decisions you had to make alone. Today, they are.

I’ve spoken to women who’ve found themselves in exactly this position, and one of the biggest things I want them to know is this:

You don’t have to sort everything out today.

Put the kettle on. Take a moment. Give yourself time to understand what’s in front of you and ask all the questions you need to, even the ones you think you should already know the answer to.

I love this quote because it gets to the heart of what financial planning is really about.

Whatever your goals look like, having a plan can help turn those ambitions into something achievable.

The practical questions often follow:
