Just today I had a phishing text from someone purporting to be HMRC and offering me a refund. With so many people awaiting information regarding Coronavirus support, this is particularly despicable. HMRC do not text or call and will not ask you to reveal personal details or click a link. Please be careful.

Updates are coming daily from HMRC regarding support for employers, employees and sole traders. I don’t have a bat phone with secret information but I can help you interpret it all if anyone needs a hand.

In the light of the Chancellor’s support package for the self-employed announced tonight, please be aware you have to have submitted your 18/19 self-assessment tax return (due by 31st Jan 2020).

They have given you another 4 weeks to submit any late ones. Please don’t miss out on being eligible for much needed support by failing to send your return.

Now that the 2018/19 tax year has come to an end, it’s a good idea to start gathering together all that paperwork that comes through your letterbox - the information that helps you complete your return - interest certificate, dividend information, P60s and P11Ds, investment schedules.

Keep them all in one place and then crack on or ask me for assistance.
