50 years of changing lives through farming, nature, and the countryside 🌱

As Farms for City Children celebrates its 50th anniversary, the charity has received a £50,000 grant from the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust.

Since 1976, Farms for City Children has given thousands of young people the opportunity to experience life on a working farm, helping them build confidence, develop new skills - all while connecting with the countryside.

The grant forms part of more than £424,000 awarded by the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust in its first round of donations for 2026, supporting charities that make a positive difference to agriculture, rural communities, and the countryside across the UK.

Say hello to Indi, one of our Customer Service Advisers, who has been part of the NFU Mutual Honiton team for the past year. Friendly, knowledgeable, and always committed to delivering excellent customer service, Indi enjoys helping customers with their insurance needs and is looking forward to developing her career further by progressing into Commercial Insurance.

💻In the office – Indi supports customers with their motor and home insurance policies, assisting with day-to-day enquiries and helping customers find the right cover for their needs. She is passionate about learning and is keen to expand her knowledge and expertise as she works towards a future role within Commercial Insurance.

🌤️Outside the office – When she's not at work, Indi enjoys caring for her two horses and spending time outdoors. She loves exploring the countryside with her dog, Remi, making the most of the beautiful local scenery and enjoying plenty of fresh air and adventure.

🌟Meet the Team🌟

Say hello to Mel, one of our Customer Service Advisers and supporting Caroline behind the scenes, who has been part of the NFU Mutual family for the past four years. Known for her friendly personality, positive attitude, and great sense of humour, Mel plays an important role in supporting both our customers and colleagues across the agency.

💻In the office - Mel supports customers with their motor and home insurance policies, helping with enquiries and helping ensure they receive the high level of service they expect from NFU Mutual. She also provides valuable support to the wider office team. Whether she's helping a customer or supporting a colleague, Mel's approachable nature and sense of humour help brighten even the busiest days in the office.

🌤️Outside the office - Mel is kept busy with her young family and enjoys helping her husband with their sheep. Animal lover that she is, she also has a cat and a dog called Lola, who is very much part of the family. Between family life, farming, and caring for her animals, there's never a dull moment for Mel.

We're delighted to have Mel as part of the Honiton team, and her dedication, experience, supportive nature, and ability to bring a smile to those around her make her a valued colleague and a trusted point of contact for our customers.

Say hello to Evie, one of our Customer Service Advisers, who has been part of the NFU Mutual Honiton team for just over a year. Friendly, approachable, and always keen to learn, Evie is currently undertaking her training to move into Farm Insurance, expanding her knowledge to support our farming customers in the future.

💻In the office - At the moment, Evie supports customers with their motor and home insurance policies, helping with day-to-day enquiries and helping ensure customers receive the excellent service they expect from NFU Mutual. As she continues her training, she is building her expertise in farm insurance and developing her understanding of the agricultural sector.

🌤️Outside the office - When she's not at work, Evie enjoys helping her partner on his family farm, giving her valuable hands-on experience of rural life. She also loves horse riding and spending time outdoors on walks with her two dogs, Olive and Jake, who are always happy to join her on an adventure.

We're delighted to have Evie as part of the Honiton team and look forward to seeing her continue to grow and develop in her career with NFU Mutual.

Honiton Show 2026

What a lovely day!

A huge thank you to everyone who popped into our tent to say hello. It was a busy day, with lots of familiar faces stopping by and plenty of new people to meet too.

We hope you all had a fantastic day and enjoyed the show as much as we did!

We where delighted to welcome our local MP Richard Foord onto our stand allowing him to sit down with our branch chairman Robert Lanning. They discussed the issues that our local agricultural community are facing. This included food security and the effects of food production during the summer of 2026 drought.

The 135th Honiton Show, and one of the best yet. Thank you to the organisers and volunteers who made it happen.

In the NFU tent, I heard what our farmers are battling, besides the most obvious drought conditions. Bluetongue, planning decisions that take months, and additional costs that make it hard for them to turn a profit.

Food security is national security - and this must be more than rhetoric. Parliament returns in September and I will be sharing these perspectives with officials and fellow MPs.
