Earlier this week I spoke at the Women in Banking & Finance event in Belfast - my first time ever doing public speaking.

We were hosted in Ulster Bank’s headquarters at Donegal Square, with a room full of 50 brilliant women and some incredibly inspiring conversations about leadership in Business.

I got up to share a few words about my role as Head of Mentoring for WIBF NI, why mentoring matters and how we’re building support for women across the industry here.

A huge thank you to the amazing team at Ulster Bank for the warm welcome - and to our guest speaker Michelle Lestas, who shared so honestly about leadership, resilience and growth in business.

Not every stage is for celebrating success, sometimes it’s for sharing the reality behind it.

I spent the day at the All-Island Female Entrepreneurs Conference with Women in Business NI and I honestly didn’t expect to feel so seen.

Instead of polished success stories, so many of the speakers opened up about what it really takes to run a business. The weight of responsibility. The setbacks that shake your confidence (and your life). The moments that take you and your family close to financial ruin.

It was raw, vulnerable and exactly what so many of us probably needed to hear. I know I needed it.

Entrepreneurship isn’t all shiny milestones. It’s long-game resilience. It’s grit. Know that even on the days you feel like you’re winging it, you’re far from alone.

Swapped my business card for a Pokémon card today… fair trade? 🤝✨

Jack spotted my Campbell Financial card tucked into the back of my phone and asked all about it - “Mummy what’s that in your phone? What’s it for? What does it do?”

“Well, it’s for our business and it tells people what Mummy does and how to contact me”

After giving it a proper once-over, he handed me his card - a Pokémon one - and said, “That’s mine.” Then proudly told me to put it in my phone. 💛

So if anyone needs mortgage advice and knows their way around a Charizard… I’ve got you covered 😂

Huge thanks to Sheelagh Wright at Property Women NI for hosting such a brilliant event today at PropertyPal HQ. The focus was on Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and it was packed with insight, experience and practical takeaways.

This is a space that’s often seen as niche or complex, but events like this make it more accessible and remind us that knowledge is power, especially when it’s shared in supportive rooms like this one.

Events like this help us better understand the challenges our clients face when wanting to approach funding for projects.

Since the launch I’ve had so many people comment on Campbell Financial NI’s website and I can’t take the credit.

It’s so unfortunate that people living with disabilities still face extra hurdles when trying to buy a home. No one should feel deterred from homeownership because of who they are.

I was glad to share my perspective with Mortgage Introducer on how brokers can do better - from offering safe spaces to being properly trained and understanding the little things that make a big difference.
