💙 Today we are bringing you a story very close to home for us at
👩🏼 Megan is the wife of Louis, one of our company directors, and she has some words to share with us all about the importance of what we do.
🗣️ I WAS 32. I WAS TOLD IT WASN’T SKIN CANCER.
👃 This little lesion on the side of my nose had been bleeding, scabbing and not healing since summer 2025.
👩⚕️ I saw my GP in November 2025 and was told it was an infected hair follicle. A second GP agreed that basal cell carcinoma was highly unlikely because of my age.
❤️🩹 But I trusted my gut.
🙏 Thanks to having private medical insurance, I was seen at the Nuffield in January 2026. I had further consultations, a biopsy in March — and the results confirmed infiltrative basal cell carcinoma.
🥹 This wasn’t just “a little skin cancer.” Infiltrative BCC is an aggressive form that can grow deeper into surrounding tissue.
💗 By June, I had undergone two surgeries: Mohs surgery to remove the cancer, followed by reconstructive surgery.
❤️ Thankfully, the cancer was fully removed.
😢 The part that shocked me most?
🧑⚕️ My NHS dermatology appointment for the original lesion was 27 August 2026.
📅 By that date, privately, I had already had my consultations, biopsy, diagnosis and TWO surgeries.
🩵 I’m not sharing this to criticise the NHS. I’m sharing it because I genuinely believe having access to private medical care made a huge difference to my journey.
☺️ Please don’t ignore something that bleeds, scabs or doesn’t heal. And if you feel something isn’t right, trust your gut and push for answers.
At 32, I never thought I’d be saying: “I’ve had skin cancer.” ❤️
