Completely unrelated to mortgages but I’ve always been a bit obsessed with the moon, so tonight is right up my street 😂

There’s a total solar eclipse tonight and, by complete coincidence, I happen to be on holiday in one of the best places in the world to see it, Valencia in Spain. Couldn’t have planned that better if I tried!

A few random facts you might not know about tonight…

🌙 The Moon is around 400 times smaller than the Sun, but the Sun is around 400 times further away, which is why they can look almost exactly the same size in the sky. How mad is that?

🌙 Valencia is in the path of totality, so for a short time the Moon will completely cover the Sun. It’s happening just before sunset too, which should make it even more amazing.

🌙 It’s the first total solar eclipse visible from mainland Spain in over a century, so we’ve definitely picked a great time to be here!

🌙 Apparently it can suddenly feel cooler, the light goes really strange and animals can start behaving like it’s nighttime.

🌙 The bit I’m most looking forward to is seeing the corona around the Moon when the Sun is completely covered. Something I’ve always wanted to see in real life.

Isabelle – Our Mortgage Case Handler 🏡**

Isabelle recently completed her Business Management course at Wilberforce College, and we were lucky enough to have her join us earlier this year for work experience… and even luckier that she decided to stay!

Isabel works directly alongside Maria as a Mortgage Case Handler, helping to make sure all of our compliance is up to date and that the documents we need are received, checked and ready in good time.

A lot of Isabelle’s work happens behind the scenes, but it plays a really important part in making sure your mortgage applications aren’t unnecessarily delayed and that everything runs as smoothly as possible from application through to offer.

We’re just waiting for Isabelle’s fun facts so you can get to know her a little better…

Meet Jake – Our Behind-the-Scenes Administrator 🎬**

Many of our clients won’t have spoken to Jake, but he’s invaluable to the day-to-day running of our admin team.

Jake is responsible for accurately inputting and setting up our cases, allowing our mortgage case handlers to concentrate on compliance, chasing applications and making sure the mortgage process runs as smoothly as possible for our clients.

Alongside working with us part-time, Jake is studying Film Production at the University of Lincoln and also runs his own drone filming business, creating promotional content for local businesses. His technical knowledge definitely comes in handy in the office too!

More recently, he’s even been putting his filming skills to work for our PRIMIS Mortgage Network, filming some of their social events.

Keep an eye out for this one when he’s a famous film producer 🎥⭐

But in the meantime… he’s ours! ❤️

Get to know your advisor Kayleigh ❤️

🌏 **I was born in Hong Kong and raised in South Shields.**
I moved to East Yorkshire in 2004 and have lived here ever since. It’s very much home now, although my North East accent has definitely never left me!

🎓 **I originally studied Performing Arts at Sunderland University.**
My career took a very different turn when I moved into mortgages in 2004! I completed my CeMAP mortgage qualifications in 2006 and have since taken further exams in Later Life Lending and Specialist Property Finance with the London Institute of Banking & Finance. I’ve now been in the industry for 22 years, working for high street banks and local brokers before setting up KC Mortgages, which is about to celebrate its sixth birthday.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 **Family is a huge part of my life.**
I’m married with three children and our French Bulldog, Barry. We’re a really close family and spend a lot of our time together, usually travelling, going to concerts or eating out far too much. We always joke that we’d probably be millionaires if we ate at home more often!

✈️ **Travelling is my favourite thing to do.**
I always have to have a flight or holiday booked and something to look forward to. I also love walking with Barry when he’s well and spending time with my mum, who has dementia. Life is usually pretty busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

📅 **I’m known as the “family manager”.**
I’m definitely the chief organiser in both my family and friendship groups. I’m always planning the next get-together, concert, weekend away or holiday with family and friends. If there’s something happening, there’s a good chance I’ve organised it!

A few facts about Maria 😊

🇧🇬 I’m originally from Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
It’s one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe—it’s actually older than Rome! It’s full of history, beautiful old streets, and an incredible Roman Theatre that’s still used for concerts today.

🎓 I studied at the University of Hull.
I graduated with an Honours degree in Law and Business Management. It might sound quite serious, but it taught me a lot about working with people, solving problems, and thinking outside the box.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family is really important to me.
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family. Whether we’re out for food, exploring somewhere new, or just enjoying a quiet evening together, that’s my favourite way to unwind.

☕ I love discovering new places.
I’m always up for trying a new coffee shop, finding a nice walk, or visiting somewhere I’ve never been before. I think it’s the little adventures that make life interesting.

😊 I enjoy meeting new people.
One of the things I love most about my job is getting to know different people and helping them. Building relationships and having a positive impact is what makes every day rewarding.
