🚗 What modifications do you need to tell your car insurer about?

If you’ve changed your car from its original factory specification, it’s important to let your insurer know. Even modifications that seem small can affect the terms of your cover.

Some examples include:

🔧 Performance upgrades – remapped engines, turbo or exhaust changes
🛞 Wheels & tyres – non-standard alloys or changes to tyre size
⬇️ Suspension – lowering kits or upgraded suspension
🎨 Cosmetic changes – body kits, spoilers, wraps or significant changes to the paintwork
💡 Lighting – upgraded or non-standard lighting
🔊 Audio upgrades – significant changes to the standard audio system

Why does it matter? Your insurer needs to know about modifications so they can accurately assess the vehicle and make sure your policy reflects what you’re actually driving. Failing to declare relevant modifications could affect your cover if you need to make a claim.
