Wright's Flour

Wright's Flour We have been milling quality flours since 1867. Our founder insisted that products, bearing his name, would only be made with the finest of ingredients.

At Wright’s Flour Mills we specialise in making the very best quality flours and mixes for your baking. All made by a family business with 150 years milling know how. With it's 17th century mill flanked by a Georgian mill house and Georgian offices, and close by, a 16th century great barn and numerous other listed buildings, Ponders End Mills is one of the most complete groupings of historical ind

ustrial buildings still being worked in Greater London. This rare survivor is set within meadows bisected by a tributary of the River Lea, and is something of an oasis in Ponders End's industrial landscape. However, appearances can be deceptive as behind the historic facade is a large, modern food-factory - with a number of state-of-the-art facilities - which operates to standards of quality and hygiene, which satisfy the most discerning of clients. When George Wright first came to Ponders End Mills some 150 years ago, he established a simple business principle - products which were to bear his name would be made with only the finest ingredients, using the most modern techniques. Four generations later, this principle is still being followed by his great, great grandson David Wright. In January 2021 after a development plan dating back four years and an investment to the tune of £47m. The new plant in Harlow was opened. David Wright revealed that the site has been designed “to enable us to add another mill or to add more storage, so there’s a space for every element to be duplicated”. Securing the future for Wright's & his staff.

We gave attendees a tour of our mill to demonstrate our milling processes (and show them the best views of the town from the top!)

This is what 2,000 solar panels looks like from the roof of a flour mill.

David Wright filmed this quick update from the top of our warehouse at the Harlow mill, where we’re almost finished installing a major new solar system.

Once switched on, it will generate around 800,000 kWh of electricity each year; roughly the annual consumption of 300 average homes!

For a mill that’s already modern and energy-efficient, this is another step forward. The reality is that climate targets keep moving, and the bar keeps rising for manufacturers like us. Projects like this help us keep pushing in the right direction.

We’re nearly there now… Just a few panels and cables left before everything goes live.

We’ll share another update once the system is switched on.

The best days are the ones that fill your heart right up. ❤️

Yesterday we hosted the amazing team from and Bridget’s Café – young adults with Down syndrome and Autism who brought pure joy, laughter, and enthusiasm through our doors.

Watching them make pizzas with Fabio was magic. But what really got us was each person standing up at the end to give individual thank-you speeches. We weren’t ready for how moving that would be.

(Also, Sasha (in the first slide) fell completely in love with James)

Our whole team said the same thing: “Best visit ever.” They’re right!

Thank you for the incredible work you do supporting young adults to build confidence and independence.

Days like this remind us exactly why we do what we do.

More pizza days like this, please. 🍕✨

A small bag with a big story. 🌾

Every Wright’s mix starts with the same flour we supply to professional bakeries - the same grain, the same care, the same consistency.

We just measure it perfectly for home use.

That means every loaf or cake you bake has the same DNA as the products made in Britain’s best bakeries.

We’ve spent six generations perfecting the process so that every home baker can enjoy professional quality: with just water, time, and care.

Heritage you can hold in your hands. 🤲

The Ponders End mill, captured in the 1950s. Standing proud by the river, this building was at the heart of Wright’s operations for generations. Its silhouette is woven into our family story, and into the heritage of British milling.
