👉Save up at least 10% of the house price to use as a deposit (5% if using the help to buy scheme). The bigger the deposit the better the mortgage rates

👉Check your budget - You can borrow up to 4.5 times your yearly income (so if you earn £40,000 combined, you will be able to borrow up to £180,000)

👉Check your credit score with a company like credit karma or checkmyfile.com

👉Get on the electoral roll and update your address to ensure that you are eligible for a mortgage
