Reflecting on an inspiring two days at the Royal Highland Show! Our Tyne & Esk Project Officer joined rural leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss a vital question: What is the future of rural Scotland? Despite some wet weather on Day 2, the energy was high, and the insights were powerful. Here are our top takeaways from across the show:
🔹 Empowering Local Communities: We attended the SRUC Showcase and heard incredible updates from CLLD, Youth LAGs, and Scottish Rural Action (SRA). The consensus? True progress is driven by local voices.
🔹 Empowering Rural Communities Event: Gillian Martin MSP (Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs) reminded everyone that "one policy doesn't fit all." This is a reassuring nod to projects like ours that need flexible, localized solutions.
🔹 Fair & Resilient Supply Chains: A panel featuring NFU Scotland, Alistair Carmichael MP, Asda, and the Agricultural Supply Chain Adjudicator tackled critical issues.
Strong collaboration is essential to keep our rural economies fair and moving forward!Connecting, learning, and collaborating like this keeps our communities strong. Thank you to everyone who shared their vision for rural Scotland! 🤝✨
