World Diabetes Day: 6 reasons why you must look after your health

Waiting times on the NHS and the cost of health care facilities have been rising at an unprecedented rate. Health care expenses have long outpaced both general inflation and employee wage increases. In such a scenario, it is always better to be prepared for any medical emergencies.

As today is World Diabetes Day, with the theme of ‘Education’, let's talk about WHY YOU NEED TO DO EVERYTHING TO PREVENT developing diabetes.

Time for your Mammogram?

I’m flagging this again as breast cancer incidence rates have increased in all female adult age groups since the early 1990s. Why is this? Unfortunately, there’s no simple answer. Breast cancer is a complicated disease with a variety of different causes.

Promoting Mammogram Day

Breast cancer incidence rates have increased in all female adult age groups since the early 1990s. Every Year, 56,000 people in the UK get diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early.

Breast Cancer Rates Are on the Increase in the UK

I’m flagging this again as breast cancer incidence rates have increased in all female adult age groups since the early 1990s. Why is this? Unfortunately, there’s no simple answer.

Breast cancer is a complicated disease with a variety of different causes. However…

1. 11% of breast cancers in the UK are caused by alcohol.
2. Obesity accounts for 7% of the UK’s breast cancer cases.
3.Keeping physically active could reduce the risk of breast cancer by anywhere from 20-40%.
4. Many effective treatments are cannot be afforded by the NHS, but may well be paid for through private health insurance.

Wear Pink This Month

Every Year, 56,000 people in the UK get diagnosed with Breast Cancer, but did you know:

1. At least 30% of breast cancer cases are preventable, and
2. By increasing the amount of physical activity you do, you can significantly reduce your risk of breast cancer?

Breast cancer is the most common kind of cancer in women after skin cancer. About 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer at some point.

The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast to check for breast cancer. Mammograms can help find breast cancer early.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so go and book yourself a check-up today.
