What once played a major role in supporting the work of the Estate, is now a thriving hub for modern businesses.

Buckminster Yard was converted back in 2012 and quickly became home to a variety of businesses, some of whom have been based there for over 10 years!

Our tenant community includes agricultural ingredient suppliers Cefetra Grain, Watchorn Financial Services Ltd and Debbie Shore Sewing, each with different business needs.

This week, we've had to remove three lime (Tilia) trees on the village green in Buckminster.

Whilst these trees may have looked healthy, they were suffering from a bark infection called Phytophthora bleeding canker which weakens the trees and can lead to them becoming unsafe. Felling ensures this doesn't happen, and also reduces the risk of the bacteria spreading to other trees.

In the short term, we will grind back the stumps and reseed these areas, with replanting taking place in the autumn months.

The other trees are being closely monitored and some dead branches have been removed from their canopies.

Thanks to our Forestry Team for carrying out these essential works.

Rural village schools are often at the heart of their communities, bringing families together and helping villages thrive for generations to come.

Buckminster Primary School will be hosting an open event at the end of next week to show new families what it has to offer.

Nestled in the countryside, the school offers plenty of outdoor learning opportunities - including regular visits to us at Buckminster Farms - alongside a nurturing classroom environment.

This month we can’t wait to see our farmland filled with colour.

Our wildflower margins will be in bloom and while it will be a pretty sight, that is not the only reason we plant these flowers.

As part of the Sustainable Farming Incentive, these margins create wildlife corridors around the edges of our farmland which provide a space for pollinators to thrive, habitats for wildlife and draw insects that naturally prey on crops to the flowers instead.

This government-supported scheme plays a crucial role in protecting the crops on Buckminster Farm while boosting the biodiversity of the land too.

Did you know we now offer hacking routes across the Estate? 🐎

As part of an annual membership, riders will have access to a six-mile riding route that stretches from Buckminster to Sewstern.

It is all in the (grass-cutting) details…🌱

We look after a variety of green spaces across the Estate, and it is important that we keep them in tip top condition.

You might have seen our team out and about recently in Buckminster Village cutting the grass on the verges, communal areas and village green.

However, tip top condition isn’t just about having manicured grass…you might also notice that we choose not to mow certain areas.

This is to promote a more natural ecosystem, as longer grass can increase biodiversity and attract pollinators.

A huge thank you to the Estate maintenance team who carry out this work ensuring the safety and attractiveness of our shared spaces.

Earlier this week we were pleased to host year one students from Croxton Kerrial CE Primary School and Wymondham CE Primary School at Manor Farm.

During their visit the children had the chance to meet our lambs, learn about the crops we are growing and explore our woodland - lucky for them our bluebells were in full bloom.

Thank you to Matthew, Zoe and Tom for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with the children.
