Renovations are underway at 2 Hall Farm Cottage. 🛠️

This three-bedroom cottage is currently receiving an upgrade: the overall decoration of the property has been updated and internal wall insulation added, alongside new kitchen and bathroom furniture and upgraded central heating installed.

The property's outdoor space now features a south facing terrace and grassed back garden, plus the shed has got a new roof and doors.

A huge thanks to our team who have been working hard to carefully renovate this cottage!

Unexpected visitors… 🦔

Earlier this week our team found a family of five hedgehogs in the garden of our commercial tenant MD Jewellers, tucked under a pile of branches that were being cleared.

When our Forestry Manager, Vinny, noticed the family had been separated, he carefully moved them back together and built them a new shelter to settle into - safe to say, no two days are the same for our Estate team.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day...and you can now get yours at the Tollemache Arms.

Andy and Tracy have extended their opening hours to offer mornings alongside lunch and evening service on a Tuesday through to Sunday.

As a cornerstone of the local community, we are sure this will be welcome news to residents of Buckminster Village and the surrounding areas.

The Estate and Farm team here at Buckminster recently downed tools and came together for an evening of food, drinks and entertainment.

Our annual summer social provides us the opportunity to thank the people at the heart of the Estate's operation, along with their families whose support doesn't go unnoticed.

All that we achieve at the Estate is only possible because of the hard work of the team, so taking an evening to celebrate them is important to us.

Welcome to the Pilates powerhouse that is Studio Fourteen – our newest commercial tenant! 🤸🏻‍♀️

We are so pleased to welcome Aimee and her team who are now offering a range of Reformer Pilates classes to the Grantham community.

Reformer Pilates is a low-impact workout that uses a spring-based machine to build strength, improve flexibility and support better posture.

Aimee opened her first Pilates studio in Essex just over two years ago and has seen the appetite for the full-body workout grow rapidly. She said “we are really excited to have brought Studio Fourteen to Grantham and become part of the local community.

Earlier this month, aircraft enthusiasts from around the world gathered in Buckminster for the Scale Model Aircraft World Championships… and it was a flying success. 🛩️

Returning to the UK after over 40 years, the championships were hosted on the Estate at the British Model Flying Association’s (BMFA) headquarters, bringing together 23 countries across eight days of competition.

International competitors were thrilled with the location and commented on the spectacular scenery, unrestricted nature of the site and how it made for excellent flying conditions.

It was a pleasure to support the BMFA in hosting this international event, and to see our fantastic local businesses benefitting from the increased footfall.

There’s no such thing as a post-harvest slump here at Buckminster Farms! 🚜

In the video you can see our farms team is already cultivating the fields in preparation for next year’s crops to be planted.

Cultivation helps to expose w**d seeds to light, air and moisture (currently none!), so that they germinate and can be removed before we sow the seeds of next year’s crop.

You can see in the video, though, that conditions at the moment are extremely dry and the ground is exceptionally hard.

To prevent the ground from compacting as best we can, we use a tracked system on the tractors which helps to spread the weight of the machine evenly. This is the triangular shaped belt that you can see sitting around the drive wheels.

We also map all our fields, so that we’re able to keep the wheels and tracks of the machines in the same place season – to – season. This reduces the impact of machinery on the soil, whilst also boosting soil health and efficiency.

A huge thank you to Matthew and his team for working tirelessly throughout the heatwave to keep farming operation on track! 🌾

We’ve had some new arrivals at Buckminster Farm… 🐄

Say hello to our new Hereford cross Fresians cows, who have an important role to play here on the Estate.

These cows will graze on herbal leys planted in our parkland. These leys, are made up of plants with deep roots which improve soil structure and grazing improves nutrient levels by fertilizing it naturally.

This additional organic matter is another step towards reducing our use of artificial inputs and will in-turn increase the productivity of our land.

Our woodland became an outdoor classroom last week, as we welcomed students as part of the Royal Forestry Society - Teaching Trees Programme. 🌲

The visit focused on a variety of outdoor activities including plant identification, habitat creation and woodland management - encouraging children to get their hands dirty whilst gaining a better understanding of their local environment!

Sessions like these are designed to make outdoor learning accessible for all, and we are proud to continue our work with the RFS, sharing the value of our woodlands, and the people who care for them, with the next generation.
