First Time Buyer? Where should you start? 🏡

Buying your first home can feel exciting, but knowing where to begin can be overwhelming.

Before you start scrolling through property listings or booking viewings, it’s worth getting a clear understanding of your finances.

💷 How much deposit do you have?
📊 What could you realistically afford each month?
🏠 How much might you be able to borrow?
💡 What additional costs should you budget for?

Getting these answers early can help you understand what’s realistic for you and give you more confidence when you start looking for your first home.

Many people assume that linking finances with a partner automatically changes their credit score.

In reality, your score remains your own. However, if you're financially associated with someone, lenders may review their credit history as part of an application.

Understanding the difference can help you make informed financial decisions.

🛡️ What is Critical Illness Cover?

No one knows what the future holds, which is why it's worth understanding the different types of protection available.

Critical illness cover is designed to pay a lump sum if you're diagnosed with a specified serious illness that meets your policy's definition, subject to the policy terms and conditions.

Depending on your circumstances, the payment can be used for a range of purposes, such as:

🏡 Mortgage or household bills
💷 Everyday living costs
🩺 Medical-related expenses
⏳ Supporting you while you recover

The illnesses covered, policy definitions, and the circumstances in which a claim may be paid vary between providers and policies. It's important to understand what's included before taking out cover.

⭐️ 26 Miles for Leo⭐️

On 12th September some of the team at Bright are taking on a 26 mile walk from Cambridge to Ely to raise money for a hospice, who care for little Leo. A charity close to our hearts & a HUGE challenge but one we will be super proud of and worth every step, ache & blister!

We’d wanted to share our challenge with you, for anyone who wanted to get involved by joining us for the walk or alternatively by making a donation!

If you would like to support us, your donations are very much appreciated. Our link: https://www.justgiving.com/page/laceupforleo

Stay tuned for updates on our walk! 🔊

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity!

🛡️ Do you have a safety net?

Life doesn't always go to plan, and unexpected events can happen when we least expect them.

Many people think about protecting their home or car, but it's also worth understanding what financial support may already be available to them through their employer, existing policies or savings.

Taking time to review what you have in place can help you understand where you stand if your circumstances were to change.

Being informed today can make it easier to plan for tomorrow.

Relationships and financial circumstances can change.

If you no longer share financial products with someone, it's worth checking whether a financial association still appears on your credit file. In some cases, you can ask for it to be removed once the financial link has ended.

Always check the requirements with the relevant credit reference agency.
