While our Spot Bonus Programme has always existed, we revamped it last year to better recognise and reward employees who bring our values to life through their actions and attitudes. Rather than managers choosing recipients behind the scenes, we made it a colleague-nominated award, complete with a cash bonus and recognition from our CEO during our monthly town halls!

Whether it’s someone going above and beyond for a client, helping out when they didn’t have to, owning and resolving a mistake, or bringing a new idea to the table, we want to make sure those contributions are celebrated. And who better to notice these moments than the colleagues working right alongside you?

Celebrating Our Women's ERG at AutoRek. ❤️

From hosting inspiring sessions like “Women Empowerment – Managing Your Career” with Della Wolfe, to creating space for connection with our “Gals Day” in the Edinburgh office (cakes, prosecco & plenty of tea), our Women's ERG continues to grow stronger each year.

We formed the group to create a safe, supportive space where women across the business can connect, share experiences, and champion one another’s growth. In a sector where the gender split still sits around 70–30, we’re committed to doing our part to improve representation and ensure every voice is heard.

This year, we took things to the next level with our first-ever “Next Gen Day”, a modern twist on “Bring Your Daughter to Work Day”, opening our doors to the next generation of curious minds and reinforcing our commitment to Women in Tech.

Meet Chantel! ❤️

Chantel is one of our Senior Software Engineers and has a rather interesting career journey we wanted to share with you.

At 17 Chantel wanted to be a spy, beginning her studies in Counter Terrorism! But after learning the ins and outs of what this would entail Chantel decided to change course and opted for Cyber Forensics instead with a second degree in Business Analytics. Which we are very grateful for! 🎉

Leaving Uni, Chantel started her career as a Graduate Business Analyst. With the opportunity to do programming within this role Chantel found her passion and didn’t look back. 💻

Joining AutoRek in 2020 as a Junior Software Engineer, Chantel quickly progressed through the ranks to Senior. 💃

Today, she’s helping lead projects, mentoring others, and exploring new ways to grow while staying close to the tech she loves.💫

From dreams of being a spy to Microsoft’s Innovation Labs in Munich, Chantel’s story is proof that there isn't just one path into software engineering.🔥

✨ We are super excited to re-launch our Lunch & Learn sessions at AutoRek! A brilliant opportunity for our team to share knowledge, spark new ideas, and learn from one another over a lovely lunch.🍴❤️

Last week our Governance, Risk & Compliance Team (GRC) were up first to kick off this fantastic initiative. Opening our eyes to the work the GRC team does from fighting cyber crime to reducing our carbon footprint! 🖥️🌳

Held in our HQ in Glasgow the team came together in person and dialed in from our Edinburgh and London offices. 🏙️

At AutoRek we’re proud to be curious by nature! Seeking new ways to learn from one another, these sessions are a perfect example of that. 🤩🙌🏻

We encourage everyone to explore new topics, ask questions, challenge perspectives and build relationships across the business. ❤️❔💡

Meet Ally – Our Net-Zero Coordinator!💚

Ally joined AutoRek in March 2023 through the first phase of the Step-Up to Net-Zero programme, delivered by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce to help Glasgow reach Net-Zero by 2030.

Originally a 12-week initiative, Ally quickly became an integral part of our team. Thanks to her dedication and impact, we welcomed her as a permanent member of the AutoRek team!🥰

Now part of our Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) function, Ally has been instrumental in driving our decarbonisation ambitions and Net-Zero goals. 👏

Through education and awareness, she has improved our recycling efforts and leads our Green Team—a group dedicated to sustainability initiatives. 🌳

From fun challenges like our STRAVA competition to litter-picking in local communities, Ally and the team make sustainability both engaging and impactful.🌍

And when she’s not busy saving the planet? Ally is pursuing her PhD at The University Of Glasgow , meaning we’ll soon have a Doctor in the house! 💁

🌳 Trees Are The Key Awareness Week! 🌳

This week, we’re celebrating the vital role trees play in protecting our planet and fighting climate change.

A few years ago, AutoRek launched a Trees for Life grove to help restore Scotland’s wild forests. Since then, we’ve planted 506 trees (and counting!), contributing to the preservation of native woodlands.

Through this initiative, we’re helping to create thriving wildlife habitats, combat climate change, and build a sustainable environment where both nature and people can flourish together.

Let’s continue making a difference—one tree at a time! 🌍💚

This week in our Edinburgh office we invited the wonderful Della Wolfe to deliver a workshop on 'Managing Your Career'.

The concept was derived from feedback from our women’s ERG but is a programme relevant for anyone looking for insights on how to better manage their careers.

It was an inspiring session filled with meaningful discussions, and actionable insights, including tips on how to tackle imposter syndrome and the value of networking.

Thank you to all who joined and contributed to this highly engaging session.
