Our current refurbishment plan has hit a few snags recently - asbestos & a flood from above, and when that happens, you have to change the plan but not the destination.

On the positive side, we did uncover a beautiful old fireplace with a herald stuffed up the chimney dated 22nd June 1955 - obviously 67 years since the fireplace last saw the light of day.

We have now framed some select pieces to keep in the studio 😍

We would like to credit at least part of our hard work ethic & focus to Rocky Balboa.

We were part of the generation who grew up celebrating getting to the top of a set of stairs and aiming firmly on our fitness dreams.

Eye of the tiger still rings in our ears when there is something to be achieved!

We have upgraded the wiring and lighting in the office, to modern standards and installed LED bulbs to ensure we have an energy efficient lighting system.

These come in all shapes, sizes and brightness so you can still achieve you desired look or effect.

#9 🌱Mend and make do

We had a big space to fill on a tight budget. So being thrifty not only kept us busy during lockdown, but also meant we used up things we already had.

Jenny and her husband rescued some fence posts and waste wood from her garden and created these wonderful versatile benches.

Then covered them with the beautiful Bloomsbury fabric from Timerous Beastie, a Glasgow design company.

#8 🌱Keep it cool

Or hot! We issued each of our team members a chilli bottle and chilli cup to encourage them to refill, and cut down on waste packaging.

These are absolutely brilliant to keep liquids hot or cold and branded bottles spread the word for your business. They are a quality product, which look great and will last a long time.

So why not consider it for your team?

We have also replaced our bottled water for client meetings and fill up from the tap instead.

Climate Change Action - Office Tips

#7 🌱Less is more

We found we used a lots of cleaning products in a lot of plastic bottles, covid 19 made this worse. We had already switched to refillable products a number of years ago, we will use up our supply but we are not buying any more.

Instead we have switched to koh products so we use less products, less chemicals and because it is refillable it uses less plastic and it is also vegan and cruelty free.

#6 🌱Motion Sensors

We installed motion sensors on some of the lighting particularly in our communal areas, so the lights come on as needed rather than being left on by accident.

These were relatively inexpensive and make a huge difference to energy consumption over the course of a year. These would be suitable in a kitchen or bathroom area, or areas with lower footfall.

#5🌱Green Energy

Energy has recently hit the headlines with many energy companies going bust in the current gas supply shortage. 💡

When selecting our supplier rather than selecting the cheapest, we made the green choice and opted for Bulb Energy who use 100% renewable electricity from wind, hydro and solar sources. 🍃

We are hoping they are going to stay afloat during this recent crisis.🙏🏼

#4🌱Dear Green Place

You might not be aware but Glasgow has a large number of beautiful green spaces right within its city boundaries.

There are incredible parks like Kelvingrove, Po***ck park, Botanic Gardens and not forgetting Glasgow Green, to name but a few.

It only felt right to try and increase the number of plants we had in the office, to increase a sense of well-being within the team, to help reduce CO2 and they also look beautiful.

We are increasing our knowledge in this area to ensure they are cared for correctly and a couple of members of the team have offered up their green fingers to assist. We will continue growing our collection over the coming months.

Unfortunately our living wall is not real, we didn’t feel we have the skills yet to care for a real living wall, but watch this space!

#3🌱Energy Efficient Boilers

In the design phase of our new space we were keen to make energy efficient choices.

The wonderful team at BPS recommended point of use water heaters, so that we only heated water where and when needed.

These little units use electricity to heat the water on demand, meaning no additional energy is used, no hot water is wasted which also making it more cost effective.

We always like money saving tips.💷
