Our funeral home is located on the edge of Saltwell Park in Gateshead. We are here to help you at a difficult time and are always available to discuss any decisions with you. How we will help:

announcements to stationery and memorials
*Make arrangements, with your preferred officiant and with the crematorium or local
cemetery
*Help you with any special requests to ensure the day is exactly how you want it
*Support you on the day of the funeral and ensure everything runs smoothly
*Be open with costs and give advice on the best value option for the funeral you have in mind
*Give guidance on administrative details that you will need to consider

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Richardson on Friday 25th September 2026, aged 89 years.

A dearly loved and treasured woman whose kindness, warmth and love touched so many lives.

Loved always and remembered forever, Betty is the adored wife of the late Thomas, a devoted mother to Peter, Brian, Sylvia, Derek and Angela. Amazing nanna to 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will take place at Saltwell Crematorium on Friday 9th October at 12.00pm. All are welcome to join the family for refreshments and to celebrate Betty’s life at Gateshead Fell Cricket Club.

Family flowers only please, with donations welcomed in memory of Betty to The British Heart Foundation if so desired.

A beautiful soul whose love and light will remain in our hearts forever.

It is with great sadness we announce that Catherine passed away peacefully at the QE Hospital on Monday 21st September 2026, aged 64, surrounded by her loving family.

Catherine was an amazing Wife to Peter, a devoted Mam to Katy and Amy, and Momar to Emilia, Joseph and Lily.

Catherine will be treasured and missed dearly by all her family and friends.

Please meet for a funeral mass in St Augustine's Church Thursday 8th October at 12.00pm to be followed by a short committal service at Saltwell Crematorium at 13.00pm. All are welcome to join the family for refreshments and to celebrate Catherine’s life at The Wardley Club.

The family have requested family flowers only please. Donations are welcomed in lieu of flowers to support Ward 9 at the QE Hospital in Catherine’s memory.

Loved beyond words, missed beyond measure.

✨ Grief is like glitter ✨

Imagine someone spills a container of glitter all over your home. At first, it’s everywhere on the floor, in your clothes, in your hair, and in places you didn’t even know existed. You clean and clean, but you can’t get rid of it all.

Grief is like that glitter.

After a death, reminders of the person seem to be everywhere. A song, a favorite food, a birthday, a familiar scent, or an ordinary moment can suddenly bring a wave of sadness. Over time, you clean up most of the glitter. Daily life becomes more manageable, and the reminders aren’t constant.

But the glitter never completely disappears.

Years later, you might open a drawer, hear a laugh that sounds like theirs, or visit a place you shared, and it’s like finding another tiny speck of glitter. It catches the light, and for a moment, you’re reminded of them. The grief isn’t necessarily as overwhelming as it once was, but it’s still part of your life.

Sharing this as a reminder that grief doesn’t disappear, it simply changes over time. It’s okay to still find pieces of grief along the way.
