Afternoon all, the bank of England have cut interest rates by 0.25% so it now stands at 4%. As always lenders have priced most of this in so I do not expect much movement in fixed rates but of course nothing is for certain.👍

Despite the enthusiastic reporting I’m afraid that when the Bank of England lowers its interest rate it doesn’t have a direct effect on mortgage fixed rates. Obviously, it does affect variable and tracker rate mortgages but the lenders and banks make their own decisions concerning the fixed rates.

Having said this, they do take serious view of what the Bank of England do and in this instance have already factored in these rate reductions over the last couple of weeks and predictions are that rates will continue to reduce, all be it be very slowly for the he remainder of the year. It’s extremely difficult for the Bank of England to get interest rates perfect as they are continuously fighting inflation on one side but also want to stimulate economic growth etc on the other, so it’s quite a juggling act at the moment, especially with all the foreign influences such as American politics and international conflict.

As always, it’s so important to shop around and speak to a professional mortgage broker, going direct to lenders is often not the best option ! ( I would say that though)…..

Good news , due to recent government announcements lenders have made it easier for first time buyers from an affordability point of view. Many lenders are loosening their criteria making peoples first step onto the property ladder slightly easier.

Well as interest rates bounce around more than an American politicians hair in the wind, It’s so important to use your mortgage broker. We can ensure that in the current environment we not only secure a good rate for you but can adjust this should better rates become available in time for either your house move or renewal date

“Tony Brown, managing director of Y-not Finance mortgage brokers and President of Dorset Chamber is delighted to move into Smartbase, a stunning facility at Bournemouth Airports aviation business park. It will form a good base to work from and fits well with blending home/office working for the team. It will make client meetings and team meetings easy to facilitate and organise. Karl Fuller , centre manager, welcomed Tony and Billie to the facility which includes use of a gym, changing rooms, kitchens, meeting rooms and the fabulous Skylounge with sun deck.”

The Bank of England has held its interest rate at 4.5% as widely predicted.
The conundrum between rising inflation and slow economic growth is obviously causing extreme difficulties with the decision makers. With import and export tariffs on top of this, as well as world affairs it’s a difficult balancing act. Economists are still are predicting two more interest rates cuts throughout the year and of course we have the Spring statement from the government next week to deal with…..

Inflation reduced slightly to 2.5 %. This is still higher than the BoE target and it will now be interesting to see how the Bank of England react when they next meet. We feel the economy is at a pivotal point with so many factors that can influence it over the next couple of months, including foreign affairs as well as domestic politics. As for mortgage rates there is still expected to be a slight decrease in fixed rates over the year which we are hopeful will stimulate further the housing market .
