I know that speaking about Wills and Estate Planning can feel intimidating for some people, especially when it feels formal or unfamiliar.

That’s why creating a relaxed, supportive environment matters so much to me ☕️💐

A lovely thank you to Charlotte for these kind words! Making these important conversations feel approachable and comfortable is always at the heart of what I do 💕

One of the things I’ve learned after more than 15 years working with families is that most people don’t avoid Estate Planning because they don’t care.

Usually, it’s because life is busy… and documents like Wills and Powers of Attorney tend to get pushed somewhere between “sort out the loft” and “I really must reply to that email” 😅

That’s why I try to make the process feel as straightforward and comfortable as possible.

For me, this has never been about handing people a stack of paperwork and sending them on their way. It’s about taking the time to properly understand what matters to each person, what concerns they may have, and what they want life to look like for the people they love in the future.

I know these conversations can sometimes feel emotional, unfamiliar, or even a little intimidating. But they don’t have to be!

Whether I’m visiting clients in their homes or chatting things through over a cup of tea, my goal is always the same: to help people feel informed, reassured, and confident that things are properly in place for their family.

Good Estate Planning isn’t really about documents, it’s about peace of mind 🩷

More families have come forward after being advised to place their homes and assets into Trusts that were presented as a way to avoid inheritance tax or care fees.

In some cases, people later faced unexpected tax bills, legal issues, and costly complications instead.

It’s understandable that stories like this can leave people feeling uncertain, especially when Trusts themselves are not the problem.

When used properly, Trusts can be a really valuable part of Estate Planning. They can help protect vulnerable loved ones, preserve family assets, and make sure wishes are carried out in the right way.

But Trusts should never be treated as a “magic solution” or sold on unrealistic promises.

Good planning starts with honest advice, careful conversations, and making sure families fully understand what they’re putting in place and why.

If you have questions, I'm always happy to help.

Making a Will or arranging a Power of Attorney can sometimes feel like a daunting task, which is why providing a friendly, supportive approach matters so much to me.

Thank you to Karl for this lovely review. I believe these conversations should feel straightforward, reassuring, and never overwhelming 💖

The truth is… most families are 🤷‍♀️

Second marriages, stepchildren, unmarried partners, estranged relatives, children from previous relationships – modern family life doesn’t always fit neatly into a “standard” box!

That’s exactly why Estate Planning matters so much.

Without proper arrangements in place, the people you care about most could face uncertainty, delays, or difficult decisions at an already emotional time.

A thoughtfully prepared plan can help make sure:
🌸 The right people are provided for
🌸 Your wishes are properly recorded
🌸 The risk of misunderstandings or disputes is reduced
🌸 Important decisions can still be made if you lose capacity

This might involve Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Trusts, or simply reviewing arrangements you made years ago that no longer reflect your life today.

There’s no such thing as a “perfect” family setup (or a "normal" one for that matter!) and there doesn’t need to be. Good planning is about making sure the people around you are protected in the way you intended 🩷

Why not get in touch and we can chat more about it?

💔 Family inheritance disputes rarely begin with bad intentions.

More often, they begin with grief, unanswered questions, old tensions, or family members simply seeing things very differently.

A recent court case saw brothers locked in a long legal battle over their father’s Estate. Even though there were concerns raised about the circumstances surrounding a later Will, the challenge ultimately failed, and the legal costs were absolutely enormous.

Stories like this are a gentle reminder that Estate Planning is really about protecting the people you love from extra stress later on.

Having your wishes properly written down, keeping things up to date, and talking things through where possible can make a huge difference for families during an already difficult time.

For many people, that may involve:
🌷 A professionally prepared Will
🌷 Lasting Powers of Attorney
🌷 Trusts where appropriate
🌷 Keeping records and documents organised.

None of us can prevent every disagreement, but thoughtful planning can help avoid uncertainty, confusion, and painful disputes later down the line ❤️

Is it a coincidence that last Thursday was International Tea Day, and this Friday is National Biscuit Day… I don’t think so 😏

That sounds like some very good planning to me!

And in a way, it’s not a bad comparison for what I do...

Because when it comes to Estate Planning, a lot of people think that once they’ve written a Will, everything is taken care of.

But a Will on its own isn’t a complete plan.

It’s an incredibly important part of the picture, don't get me wrong – but it doesn’t always deal with how things will work in practice.

That’s where additional planning can make a real difference. Things like:

🌸 Lasting Powers of Attorney – making sure decisions can be made if you’re unable to
🌸 Trusts – helping structure how assets are passed on and managed
🌸 Clear guidance around your wishes – so there’s less room for uncertainty later on

Because as I always say: good planning isn’t ✨just✨ about having documents in place. It’s about making sure everything works together, clearly and effectively, when it’s needed.

The difference between “having a Will” and “having a plan” is often what shapes how straightforward things are for the people who matter most to you.

And just like tea and biscuits… some things simply work better together.

I hope you’re all enjoying the Spring Bank Holiday! Personally, I shall be catching up on a few long-overdue tasks, and then hopefully having some time this afternoon to sit down with a nice cup of tea 😮‍💨☕️

For many people, future planning is something they know they ✨should✨ do, but aren’t always sure where to begin...

That’s where having clear, friendly guidance can make all the difference! My focus is always on helping people feel comfortable, confident, and supported throughout the process, so they can move forward knowing things are properly in place.

And once it’s done, it’s one of those things you’ll be glad you didn’t put off any longer.

If today's the day you stop putting your future plans to the bottom of your to-do list, why not send me an email, and I'll be in touch.

It’s interesting (and frankly, quite sad) to see how Estate-related disputes are continuing to rise in the UK.

Recent reports highlight that more families are formally challenging Estates each year, often linked to rising property values and increasingly complex family situations.

It’s not always about large or complicated Estates either. In many cases, it comes down to expectations...

🌸 Who thought they would inherit what
🌸 Whether something was clearly explained
🌸 Whether decisions (especially unequal ones) were fully understood.

That’s where even well-intentioned plans can start to create uncertainty.

The takeaway isn’t that Estate Planning is risky – far from it!

It’s actually that good planning goes beyond simply having documents in place.

Taking the time to be clear about your wishes, structuring things carefully, and (where appropriate) having open conversations with family can make a significant difference later on.

Done properly, a plan doesn’t ✨just✨ deal with assets, but helps avoid confusion and keeps things as straightforward as possible for the people involved.
