This is how I spent my Thursday this week. I was invited by HSBC to attend a small round table lunch for female founders.

I was so inspired listening to other female founders tell their stories, share their current concerns, make new connections and catch up with some old connections. Some key themes came out at the lunch that I will take back to the office and consider over the coming weeks. Great to see women supporting each other and encouraging other business owners on their journeys.

HSBC have got it nailed with their proposition in the market. I can honestly say this from first hand experience based on a number of deals that I have completed with them this year.

On Friday 5th September we hosted a table at the annual Johnstone Smillie Limited Ladies Afternoon Tea. As a company we have supported this event since its inception. It’s a fabulous event filled with lots of inspiring women in business raising money for charity with a focus on helping smaller charities that are often forgotten about due to their size, despite the support that they provide for those in need. These charities often need support to allow them to continue to operate and funds from the Johnston Smillie Charitable Trust are always well received and put to good use.

It was lovely to have a mix of clients, friends and family come along and have a relaxing fun filled afternoon.

On Sunday I had the real pleasure of watching and presenting the prizes at the British Showjumping competition at West Kype Farm in Lanark. This was a two day event and the organisers put on a great show for everyone. Some amazing riding from the competitors. Well done to everyone.

We sponsored the 90 Open/Discovery class and my daughter Isla, a keen equestrian, handed out the rosettes. Well done to the winners Joshua Carnochan (90 Open) and Indie McKean ( Discovery) and everyone who was placed 👏👏🏵️🏵️

It’s great to be able to support the young riders and organisers allowing them to put on these events.

My Story

I’m Lynsey, owner of Altruistic Commercial Finance.

I started my career on a Graduate Development Programme at Clydesdale Bank, completing my bank exams and developing my knowledge and experience in the retail, commercial, corporate and treasury divisions. Having established a passion for working with businesses, I decided to set up my own business two years ago, believing that I could add value to businesses looking for funding.

As a business owner myself I know what it is like to run your own business and the challenges that business owners are sometimes faced with. I am very dependable, reliable, and straightforward to work with and I would welcome the opportunity to learn about you and your business.

Over my 27 years of experience in working with businesses of all sizes and individuals in ALL sectors I’ve developed an extensive knowledge of how to deliver funding solutions, helping my clients to meet their business needs and achieve their goals. I am fortunate enough that many of my clients now regard me as one of their trusted advisers. In addition to this I have an excellent reputation with my network of introducers, lenders and strategic partners.

Altruism is our core value and defines what the business is about. Our clients and professional network are at the heart of the business and how we conduct our work. We always have our client’s best interests at heart and ensure a personal approach throughout our entire engagement with them.

With the banks becoming automated and call centre based, I still believe in the old tried and tested method, “relationships.” Understanding your clients and their needs is of paramount importance and time and time again is proven to be the true catalyst of any relationship.
