Scott’s Story as told by our Director Cate
In 2023, Scott visited me to discuss selling his flat in Edinburgh and buying a new one in Glasgow. He shared that he had met the love of his life through work and was relocating to be with her.
His flat sold, and he received an offer on a new one, all was going according to plan.
We completed his mortgage application, and I then asked him about life protection insurances. He replied, “I don’t need it; I’m never off work and never ill. Besides, my work pays me if I’m off.”
After a lengthy discussion, he agreed to critical illness cover. Although he had excellent sick pay from work, he felt the need to protect himself and the new love of his life in the event of a more serious illness.
Earlier this year, Scott called me to inform me that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He was currently off work, although he was being paid from his employer, but he had been wondering about the critical illness cover he put in place.
He explained that the doctors had said they could start treatment within a few weeks, and he was hopeful for a full recovery. He wondered if the insurance wouldn’t cover him since he should be okay after treatment.
I contacted the insurance company, provided Scott with instructions on the next steps, and informed him that the insurance company would contact him once his consultant completed the doctor’s report.
We are so pleased that since then Scott is doing well and he doesn’t have to worry about paying bills and no more mortgage either to worry about, which will gave him time to recover and get back to 100% fit and back to enjoying life again!
We wish you a speedy recovery, Scott. From all of us at Mortgage Time!
Thank you for allowing us to share your story and spread the awareness of protection!
