Over the last 25 years, the state-legal cannabis industry has grown exponentially, but banking the proceeds of even a lawful cannabis business is still illegal under federal anti-money laundering (AML) laws. This effectively excludes the industry (and any businesses that serve it) from accessing banking and financial services.

Enugu govt suspends Igbo-Etiti monarch over demolished building of visually impaired man

The Enugu State government has announced the immediate suspension of the recognition of Igwe Christopher Everestus Okwor as the Traditional Ruler of Ihekwuenu Aku Autonomous Community in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of the state.

The suspension, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Charles C. O. Egumgbe, “is in the interest of peace, order and good governance and in compliance with Section (10b) of the Traditional Rulers Law, Cap 151, Revised Laws of Enugu State, 2004”.

Dr. Egumgbe, in the statement, told Igwe Okwor that “your Community is presently in turmoil due to wanton destruction of property and threat to lives of the members of the community”.

The Chieftaincy Commissioner, who disclosed that Igwe Okwor’s letter of recognition MCM/CM/98/VOL.11/116 is dated January 28, 2008, added: “Your suspension takes effect today, September 21, 2021, and would subsist pending the conclusion of investigation by the relevant bodies”.

The suspension of Igwe Okwor is part of the outcome of the meeting Dr. Egumgbe held on Tuesday with the suspended Traditional Ruler and the Chairman of Igbo-Etiti LGA, Hon. Mrs. Nkechi Ugwu-Oju, following the trending video of the demolition of a two bedroom building belonging to a visually impaired man in the community.

The Enugu State government through an earlier statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, had expressed utter dismay over the incident and the allegation of the involvement of the now suspended Traditional Ruler in the demolition as well as the negative effect of the development on the peace and security of the community, reassuring the people of Enugu State of its irrevocable commitment to their welfare, as well as the peace and security of the state.

Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have arrested a kidnapper-turned crippled, Buhari Haruna, while attempting to pick up a ransom for a kidnap operation.

The suspect, a 22 year old Haruna a native of Kankia Local Government Area in the state; he was paraded at the state police command on Monday, for threatening and masterminding a kidnap attempt on one Hamisu Salisu of the same Kankia community.

The suspect, who claimed to be a phone repairer, was said to have called his prime target on phone demanding the sum of N2million to save his family from being killed or kidnapped.

According to SP Isah Gambo, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, the suspect while making the threat, was said to have revealed that his initial plan was to kidnap the victim’s father but suspended the idea, realising that the old man was sick and hospitalised.

A 76-year-old man, Adeniyi Adebisi Samuel, has been beheaded by some ritual killers in the Akanran area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Parading the suspected ritual killers at the Amotekun headquarters, Dandaru, Ibadan, on Tuesday, the Deputy Commandant of Amotekun in the state, Mr. Akinro Kazeem, said the suspects were arrested following intelligence reports from the members of the public.

Akinro who gave names of the suspects as; Ismail Muraina, Abdlerasheed Olanrewaju, Olalekan Akande explained that Ismail Muraina confessed that he charmed the victim because he saw him as unstable.

He noted that the suspects confessed that they sold human heads based on the size and amount available in the hand on their customers.

According to him, the suspects specialised in selling human part to the ritualists who are in need of human parts between N4,000 and N100,000.

He urged members of the public to continue partnering with the police and other security agencies to reveal activities of the criminals in their respective communities.

One of the daughters of the victim, Mrs Olaosun Olufunke, said her father called her on Sunday morning that Ismail Muraina asked him to meet him to get some money his younger brother and that was the last time he heard about him.

"The man is lying. My dad told me on Sunday morning that Muraina asked him to come and get money for my younger brother and that was the only thing we heard last from him," she lamented.

Crossdresser Bobrisky has faulted the general notion that money is not everything. In an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Bobrisky opined that the general believe that money isn't everything is a blatant lie.

“When you tell me money is not everything, it’s a lie. Money is everything,” he said

The 31-year-old said he enjoys his controversial personality, which was why he doesn’t make attempt to explain situations especially as it concerns his real gender because that is actually what keeps him trending and in the news.

“I want to keep them guessing. I allow people to say different things because that’s what keeps me in the news all the time. The moment I now come and say okay lemme explain to you guys, I don’t think I’ll be trending the way I’m trending.” he said

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Asogwa Alexandra better known as Alex Unusual has advised her fellow ladies to build up themselves instead of dreaming that the love of their life will one day magically find them.

The Reality TV star shared some lovely photos of herself on her Instagram page while making reference to a song from Tiwa Savage titled “Somebody’s Son” which documents a woman’s longing for love and the warmth of romance.

Alex Unusual explained that women should see the positivity in the song and try to add value to their lives instead of having the mindset that a man would come out from nowhere and propose to them.

She also reminded her fellow ladies that they should mimic the lifestyle of Tiwa Savage who was behind the song, as the Reality TV star revealed that the female singer can never sit at home and do nothing.

If you like, sit at home and be singing “somebody’s son go find me one day”. Don’t improve and add value to the “you” that wants to be found.
Even Tiwa Savage that recorded the song doesn’t sit at home doing nothing.

This applies to the guys too . Don’t go looking for somebody’s daughter without adding value and working on yourself . I come in peace. She said!

Ubon Akpan, a human rights activist and international convener, Rally for Alternative Leadership has slammed the Akwa Ibom State Government over the disappearance of 2000 cows, claiming that southern leaders are politicizing the anti-open grazing law.

"Some southern Nigerian governors recently signed an anti-open grazing law, and they turned it into a celebration and a political symbol of success, which raises the question of the type of mischievous and non-proactive leaders we let govern us. They've only shown that they're reactive rather than proactive leaders by only responding to problems after they've occurred.
Sadly, Nigeria has never had a real national or state livestock law after 60 years of independence, leaving a space for some Fulani herdsmen (whether foreign or local) to commit massacres, rapes, kidnappings, and devastation of farmers' crops and livelihoods.
How in the world can governors who are seeking to right the wrongs caused by their lack of initiative and inadequate views of government be revered? There would have been fewer casualties if functional livestock laws had been in place before the herders began slaughtering or if they had been adopted as soon as the situation arose in 2016.
A reasonable livestock law requires livestock farmers, including cattle herders, to assess and control the risks associated with their animal rearing activities and make sure they don't harm people or property. If you're involved in cattle handling, the law teaches you how to do it better, safer, and more efficiently..." according to a screenshot of a post he made on Facebook.
