Scottish Council on Archives The Scottish Council on Archives is the lead body for the advocacy and development of archive and records management services in Scotland.

We lead on the advocacy and development of archive services in Scotland and support both historic collections and modern records management services. The work we do falls under four broad headings:
Research – collecting information about Scottish archives
Advocacy – making the case for continued investment in Scottish archives
Marketing – promoting opportunities for research and learning in Scottish archives
Development – providing training and development opportunities for Scottish archives

Cruthaich Earra-Ghàidheal Awards 🌿

Apply now for Cruthaich Earra-Ghàidheal, a new Place-based award scheme for native Gaelic speakers and fluent learners, aiming to enable a wide range of approaches to developing new creative works focused on Gaelic language and culture.

This awards scheme will offer 12 awards in total: 3 awards of £1000 across each of the 4 local council areas in Argyll and Bute.

As part of SCA’s Community Stories-Community Archives project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are offering a free in-person training day on basic digital archive skills including digital preservation, digitisation and sharing digital collections.

This session is for non-professionals or those volunteering in a community archive.
