It’s peak wedding season, which means you’re either knee-deep in planning your own big day, or you’re opening yet another invite and wondering how many more your bank balance can take…

Weddings are a big financial moment either way, so here’s a little help for both:

💒 Saving for your own? Keep your wedding money in a separate savings pot so it doesn’t get muddled with everyday spending, set a budget together early, and automate a monthly amount so it builds up over time.

🥂 Attending someone else’s? Add up the whole cost before you commit: gift, outfit, travel, accommodation, and the hen or stag do. Spreading it across a few paydays can make it easier to manage.

Which are you this summer? 👇

It's never too early to start teaching children about money and the early years are where some of the most lasting lessons take root.

At ages 3 to 6, it's all about making money feel real and positive. A few simple things that help:

🪙 Let them handle coins and hand over cash, so they see that money is real and does run out
🫙 Use a clear jar instead of a piggy bank, so they can watch their savings grow
🧸 Let them make small spending decisions of their own, even the odd mistake.

This is the first in our new series on raising money-confident kids, we'll be working through each age and stage over the coming months.

For now, we'd love to know... What's the first money lesson you remember learning as a child?

5 small money habits to start this August…

The summer spend is winding down, the kids are heading back to school, and September's fresh start is just around the corner. It's the perfect moment to reset a few money habits. Here are five habits worth trying:

1️⃣ Reset after the summer spend: Draw a line under the holidays and give your next payday a plan.

2️⃣ Have one honest money chat: Whether it's with a partner, family or just yourself, a few minutes talking openly about money beats avoiding it.

3️⃣ Check your standing orders: Look at what's leaving your account each month and cancel anything you've outgrown.

4️⃣ Bank what summer didn't cost you: A quieter month ahead? Move what you'd have spent into savings.

5️⃣ Set one money goal for autumn: Whether it's saving more, clearing debt or building healthier money habits, choose one to focus on.

Which one are you starting with? Let us know below 👇

Getting on the property ladder starts with a plan. 🏡

Saving for a first home can feel overwhelming, but breaking it down makes it much more manageable. A few things to keep in mind:

🌱 Know your target. Most lenders ask for at least 5-10% of the property value as a deposit. The bigger your deposit, the more mortgage options you may have.

🌱 Treat savings like a bill. Set up a standing order on payday and move your savings before you have the chance to spend them.

🌱 Consistency beats size. Saving a little every month adds up over time. The habit matters as much as the amount.

🌱 Put your money in the right place. A dedicated savings account keeps your deposit separate from everyday spending and helps your money work harder in the meantime.

We have a range of savings accounts to suit different goals and timescales.
