Scottish Bakers has a new President and he's already out and about visiting members! 👋🥐

President Gary Reid of Reids Bakery in Caithness has wasted no time getting out and about, and was joined by Immediate Past President Michelle Phillips for a visit to a couple of our members in Fife.

First stop was Bayne's the Family Bakers, where Gary and Michelle caught up with Managing Director John Bayne, before heading on to meet Keith and Mark Stuart at Stuart's

Gary and Michelle were treated to tours of both businesses and got the chance to see the teams in action and hear more about their businesses.

Both are long-standing members of our association, with Stuart’s Bakers and Butchers having an especially impressive connection to our history – they were one of the founding members back in 1891!

A fantastic first couple of member visits for Gary, so a massive thank you to both bakeries. Gary will be out and about visiting more members so stay tuned for more adventures in Scottish baking!

Autumn is around the corner, which means we are just weeks away from a very special evening on the baking calendar.

On Saturday, 3rd October 2026, the Scottish Bakers Presidential Dance returns for the final time to the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow as we go all out to celebrate in true Scottish style.

To mark the occasion, Scottish superstar Michelle McManus is back hosting by popular demand.

Running from 6:00pm until 1:00am, the night kicks off with a welcome drink before moving on to a 3-course dinner crafted by the Radisson Blu culinary team. Guests can look forward to live entertainment from Michelle, fun and games, our charity auction and raffle with fantastic prizes, and late-night rolls from McGhee's to keep everyone fuelled on the dance floor until the early hours.

As this will be the final Presidential Dance hosted by Scottish Bakers, demand for places is high!

It’s amazing to see our Scottish Bakers members thriving and innovating!

Scottish Bakers would like to congratulate the team at Company Bakery, who have just unveiled plans for a new £170k flour mill at Auldhame Farm in East Lothian—supported by funding from the Food and Drink Processing Scheme Scotland.

Tantallon Mill will process up to 500 tonnes of locally sourced grain from south-east Scotland, creating new jobs and championing local agriculture. We love seeing our members lead the way in quality and innovation!
