Well done Dean 👏🏻👏🏻

Another one of our AJ Bell Great Scottish Run legends!

Dean took on the half marathon and raised an incredible £1,100+ for Megan's Space which is enough to fund over 27 therapy sessions!

Dean has his own personal reasons for choosing to support us and we wanted to share a wee bit of his story in his own words.

“I chose to do the AJ Bell Great Scottish Run and raise money for Megan’s Space because I’ve personally had help through their funding and from Donna when I was struggling with mental health and addiction. It meant so much to me, I couldn't have done it without the help I got from them. I know how much raising money can help other people out there struggling and in need of help."
There's something really special about seeing someone who's received support from Megan's Space go on to raise money to help others. Not only does it help us continue the work we do, but it shows just how much that support can mean to someone.

Dean, thank you for sharing your story, giving something back and raising such an amazing amount.

And a massive well done on that half marathon!

Youth Mental Health Day 17th September 2026.

Advice for parents: You know your child/Teen better than anyone, trust your instincts, if you notice a change in mood, behaviour or usual routines. You don’t have to have all the answers, sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is listen without judgement and let them know you are there if they need to talk.

Advice for teens: You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable before you talk to someone. Sometimes we become really good at saying “I’m okay” when we are not. If something doesn’t feel right talk to someone you trust, a parent, teacher, friend, youth worker or therapist.

Advice for young adults: There is a lot of pressure in young adulthood to fit in and feel like you have everything figured out. We will experience uncertainty and it can feel messy and overwhelming, asking for help is not failing it’s brave.

Don’t ignore the signs which can look like withdrawing, struggling to cope, anger, or feeling like things are too much.

And remember to check in with friends to - Notice - Ask - Listen - Connect.

Is it time to talk? If it is, reach out to somebody you know however if you feel you would need extra help and would like to talk to one of our practitioners, please contact us via megansspace.com and your enquiry will be confidential.

When was the last time you truly put everything down?

Not your phone.

Not your work.

Not your responsibilities.

The weight you've been carrying.

The thoughts that never switch off.

The pressure to keep it all together.

We get so used to carrying everything that we forget what it feels like to feel... light.

That's what Repair & Recover is all about.

Not fixing you.

Not changing you.

Giving yourself permission to stop.

To breathe.

To reconnect with the version of yourself that's been buried beneath stress, expectation and responsibility.

You'll journal.

You'll breathe.

You'll reflect.

You'll release.

You'll recover.

Some people leave feeling lighter.

Some find clarity.

Some finally let go of something they've been holding onto for years.

Every experience is different.

But everyone walks back out of those doors having given themselves something we rarely allow...

Space.

Come as you are. Leave as you should.

🏆 WE WON! 🏆

Last night was an unforgettable moment for everyone connected with Megan's Space as we were honoured to receive the SCVO Scottish Charity Awards 2026 Charity of the Year (Medium Organisation).

What began six years ago with a family's determination to create something positive from unimaginable loss has grown into something far bigger than a charity.

As Rob Copeland said:
"Megan's Space is no longer a charity. It is a movement."

Over the last six years, Rob and Jenny Copeland, Megan's brothers Gary and Aaron, alongside our dedicated trustees, staff, volunteers, supporters, friends, families and professional partners, have worked tirelessly to build a respected, professional and effective organisation dedicated to supporting young people across Ayrshire and beyond.

Together, we have:

💜 Supported more than 2,000 young people through one-to-one services.

💜 Delivered awareness, self-care, prevention and mental health training across primary and secondary schools and Ayrshire College.

💜 Launched our Youth Group which runs every Wednesday.

💜 Helped create conversations, understanding and hope within communities.

This award belongs to every person who has supported Megan's Space along the way.

Whether you have volunteered your time, donated, attended an event, shared our message, trusted us with your story or helped a young person access support this achievement is yours too.

Most importantly, we want to thank the young people and families who have placed their trust in us over the past six years. Your courage, resilience and willingness to reach out for support are the reason Megan's Space exists.
Every conversation started, every life touched and every step taken towards hope matters.

We would also like to congratulate all of the finalists at the Scottish Charity Awards. We were humbled to be recognised alongside such incredible organisations, each making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We celebrate your achievements and the positive impact you continue to make in communities across Scotland.

Jenny Copeland said:

"Thank you to each and every person who has played a part in the Megan's Space success story. But most importantly, please remember that nobody needs to suffer in silence."

If you are struggling, or if you know someone who may need support, please reach out. Together, there is hope, and together we can find a way forward.

This recognition is not the end of our journey it is motivation to keep going, to reach more young people, support more families and continue breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health.

💜 This award is for Megan.

💜 This award is for every young person and family we have supported.

💜 This award is for our volunteers, staff, trustees and supporters.

💜 This award is for our community.

Thank you for believing in our vision, supporting our mission and helping us create hope where it is needed most. We are humbled, proud and more determined than ever to continue this journey together.

Well done to everyone at Megan's Space 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
