Not because Grace Edwards wanted to, but as a self-employed osteopath, she was worried about how she'd cope financially.

Grace broke her tibia and fibula, had three operations and spent 11 days in hospital following a riding accident in September. She returned home on crutches to recover but was already thinking about going back to work.

𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 (both people and horses) at In Sync Osteopathy 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲, and Grace was worried about how she'd afford her bills and the cost of keeping Benji while she was off.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗲'𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟱 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁.

As you can imagine, Grace was so relieved.

Grace can now take the extra time she needs to recover rather than worrying about rushing back to work and Benji will be well looked after now he’s on livery.

𝗪𝗘 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗛𝗢𝗣𝗘 𝗪𝗘'𝗟𝗟 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗔 𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗠….

You might remember Grace Edwards and Benji from a previous post. She fractured her hand and claimed on her Accident Cover just nine days after taking out her policy. Unfortunately, Grace's luck hasn't improved! 🙈

Grace was unseated from Benji on a beach ride in September. Although landing on her feet, all the weight went through her right leg, 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗮.

After being blue-lighted to hospital, Grace had 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝟭𝟭 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹.

As a self-employed human and horse osteopath with In Sync Osteopathy, 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻.

Just five days after sending in her claim documents, Grace received confirmation that her claim had been approved.

At a time when Grace couldn't work for nearly 2 months, the money has made a huge difference in helping with everyday bills, her loss of earnings and the cost of keeping Benji.

I've seen how much of a worry the financial side of an accident can be, so it was great to help Grace get the financial help when she needed it most.

The two friends work for Karen Jewell Racing and also run their own breaking and schooling business, Corham Equestrian.

They know their work carries risks and wanted some financial protection in place if an injury left them unable to work and earn.

You may remember the post I shared last month about Grace Edwards of In Sync Osteopathy, who fractured her hand and was paid out just 9 days after taking out the cover.

Unfortunately, Grace luck hasn't improved and she had a bad fall a couple of weeks ago, breaking her tibia and fibula. She’s had three operations and was in hospital for 12 days, but thankfully was discharged yesterday and is recovering at home.

Like any rider, Grace wasn’t expecting a fall, but thankfully the cover we set up in May will pay out for both fractures and for the time she was in hospital.

Whilst Grace would swap the payout for not having the accident, at least the money will ease some of the financial pressure and will ensure Benji can be looked after while she gets better.

BHS Membership and other schemes are fantastic for liability protection, but their Personal Accident element is limited and usually only provides catastrophe cover.
