On the 14th of July, Sophie and I will be doing our best to nurse Speedy Bob (a Mercedes rust bucket costing just £500) over 1,000 miles through France, over the Swiss Alps into Italy and down to the finish line in Casino Square, Monaco.
There will be various challenges along the way and you can read all about the Champagne Charlie Monte Carlo or Bust banger rally here (https://www.bustrallies.com/champagne-charlie). It should be a lot of fun (if we make it to the finish line) but as well as having fun along the way, we are hoping to raise lots of money in support of Finley's Touch (https://finleystouch.org.uk/).
Finley was a wonderful boy who fought so bravely as he underwent treatment for a rare form of blood cancer, JMML- approximately 25 children are diagnosed each year in the UK. It can be cured with a successful Stem Cell / Bone Marrow Transplant - Finley is thought to be the first child in the world to have received 3 transplants in a year. Finley battled his illness heroically, but despite amazing care, he could not be cured and passed away 6th December 2021 aged 8.
He was and will always be an inspiration to us and our girls. In the words of his mum and dad "Finley touched everyone he met. He continues to inspire us and we have set up a charity in his name to support others going through similar situations."
If you can spare a few pounds to support this fantastic charity, that would be wonderful. It hopefully goes without saying that Sophie and I are covering all the costs of the trip/car etc. so, every penny you stump up will go straight to Finley's Touch.
We know times are tight, if you can't help us to raise money please think about registering as a donor with DKMS, you really could save someone's life and it costs nothing to register (https://www.dkms.org.uk/)
Thanks for all your support
